CFL Question

Is it better (during flowering) to mix the blue(6500k) and red(3000-3700k) spectrums? I have 4 26 watt (100 equivalent) CFLs over my girl right now, with a homemade reflector hood. all are around 3000k color temp., the more red spectrum. Is this enough light for just one plant?

its better to use the red spectrum.....blue isn't gonna harm them...but red is much better

enough light for one plant? well honestly, that depends on how big your plant is....if you have a huge plant then no, the light wont be strong enough for hte lower canopy

Yes you can run jus the four. you will prolly lose out on nugs that couldof had hugs lol. JMO:hippy:

than get as much lumens as you have in ther.

You should have around 40W per square foot of coverage...so you should look into more lighting if your interested in getting a high yield.

is that 40 watts in the CFL world, or does it mean 40 watts equivalent to the incandescent?

when dealing with CFLS you use the wattage they imitate, not the wattage they use in reality.

Actually, it's just the opposite. When talking cfl's, use the real wattage, not the equivelant.

In any event, 40 watts/sq.ft. is low AND the watts/sq.ft. formula is based on the output from an HPS light. It really isn't applicable to cfl's.

I taught it was lumen's that were important not the watt.

I saw a 30 watt on ebay with 1500 lumen's and a 40 watt with 1200.
