Here we go again. Second grow and second log. This time I'm going to stick it through and do it right. Assuming I've learned from my mistakes.

Heres my setup:
2 cabinets. One for grow and later for flowering and one for flowering only.
-125w ESL Growlight White/Blue spectrum Lamp for plant propagation and vegetative stages 6400ºK
2x125w ESL Growlight Red spectrum lamps for all plant flowering stages 2700ºK

Seeds: Should be some Master Kush and Four Way. Maybe some others too.

Soil: PH 6.5 Black mold.
no nutes yet.
Temps: around 20c-24c

I got 9 plants which are from 7 to 11 days old now. I'm going to transplant them to bigger pots in a week.
Plan is to keep this log updated weekly with pics.
And heres the first.

Add at least 20% perlite to that soil. It looks very heavy. I already see faint signs that the roots need better aeration.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to add some perlite when I transplant them.

I have a big bag of this light gravel which is made of burned clay and it says in the bag that it can be used for underdraining pots, surface coverage or mixed to soil to add lightness. Its rough surface binds water and air. (rough translation)Maybe I could use that? What do you think?

I transplanted my plants in to bigger pots. It seems that the Master Kush is auto-flowering. I got two definitely males which I took away. Is it normal that they start to show sex so soon? They were just over 2 weeks old and in 18/6 light cycle. They are growing pretty damn fast. I put 4 plants to the other cabin now.

First picture is from the grow closet and the second is from the flowering closet.

MK isn't an auto strain and preflowers at 2 weeks isn't typical. How did you know they were males?

From the huge amount of balls they made. I took pics, but my crappy camera cant take sharp enough pictures. But they definitely were male flowers. I counted up to 20 balls in the top of the plant and some in lower nod. The plants were only on their 4th set of leaves.

They looked pretty much like this.

WOW! That was VERY young! Holy crapola.
Shit. I would have saved pollen personally.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them. I was checking on my plants and two of them looked a bit strange from a distance. When I took a closer look I was like what the hell!
I have no intentions to produce seeds, so I just dumped them.

I've never seen plants show sex that young, without prompting ... its pretty unusual ... as previously stated, MK is not auto-flowering ... I personally don't think the pollen would be worth keeping, early male-flowering isn't the greatest trait to want to save ... but, I'm still learning, too, I may be wrong ... :smokin:

On the contrary ,
The sooner males are accounted for and removed the better .
Girls can use the extra space . Whats your take Stinky ?

I'd like to see a strain that shows sex in veg, especially males, so that they can be removed LONG before females show. I'm not sure if there's a reason against that I'm not thinking of, but shit, a strain where only the males autoflowered? The possibilities! Put them outdoors in April, males autoflower by June and then ideally die off, summer rains come, blah blah blah, couple months later females flower... grower needs to do nothing!

I think I have to ask more about these strains from the guy I got the seeds from. What I know is, that they are special strains for northern climates. He has grown these outdoors for few summers now with awesome results.

From the four plants in flowering came out three males and one female. I cut the males out and put one more plant in to flowering. One plant is still in veg.
I also ordered a new set of seeds. Mixed bag of northern lights, white widow and red shiva. I'm hoping to put new veg in next week.

Im getting some yellow leaves... I think I might have given them just a little too much nutes. They have got one nute dosage while in veg NPK 6-2-6 and one dosage in flowering two component nutes componentA N-P-K 0.5-2-1.5 and componentB N-P-K 0-5-3. I transplanted them in to 10l pots.

Also my new set of seeds came and the plants are few days old. Cant really tell what they are yet.
