Mmmm bubblehash!

I I know SOMEONE was wondering whether there was going to be a bathtub involved.

Today I got a chance to use a set of bubble bags- a custom 4 bag/5 gallon set, working mesh, 73u, 45u, and 25u.

I used 2- 5 gallon pails, about a cubic foot of dried shredded trim loosely packed, 2 bags of ice, and a stiff whisk for agitation.

Step 1:
Break up any chunky stuff in the trim and place it in a pail. Add the ice and just enough cold water to float the solids.

Step 2:
Agitate vigorously for 15 minutes with a very stiff whisk or a power drill with a paint paddle on it.
Allow to sit about 10 minutes, rip one, agitate again, allow to rest again. Have another rip. Ahhh. Now doesn't that feel good?

Go look at the pretty colors. That tree is pretty. Okay... enough! Get back to work you lollygaggers.

Step 3:
Assemble stack of bubble bags in second pail. The first one in the bucket, which will be the final highest grade of hash, will be the lowest number, in this case, the 25u. Next is the 45u, then the 73u, then the coarse working bag.

Step 4:
Gently stir the plant matter and ice and pour into the stacked bubble bags in the second pail.
Rinse out the original bucket with just a small amount of water and pour in on the rest of the trim/ice mix.
Agitate gently with your hand, then gently lift the bag and plant matter out. Allow excess water to finish draining, but don't squeeze the bag if you want it to last, especially if you think any stems will be in it!

Step 5:
Start pulling the sides of the next bag d own the sides of the pail, bringing the screen and product above the level of the water. Allow it to fully drain, and rinse the product into the low spot on the screen with a ketchup dispenser of clean water. Allow to drain again and then scrape it with a spoon or the edge of a plastic chew tin lid or something similar.

Step 6:
Place the pile of trichs on the pressing screen and blotter, repeat the wash and collect the second pile of trichs. Add it to the first. Repeat until the screen looks clean. Fold it into the blotter paper and press the water out of it. This is your coarsest grade of bubblehash.

Repeat steps 5 and 6 to complete the process with the other bags.

Step 7:
In this step you are scavenging any product you missed on the previous screens. Take the bag your plant material was in and swish the OUTSIDE of the working bag in the waste water. For the next bag, turn it inside out and swish in the waste water. Repeat with all bags EXCEPT the 25, which you should now stretch across the empty pail. Pour the wash water into the 25u screen and repeat steps 5 and 6 again. This is your scavenged product.

Step 8:
Cleaning the bags is pretty simple, just turn them inside out and rinse them well under tap water. The blotting screen may be gently rubbed against itself to scavenge even more product.

The products!
Shown are 73u (in the square box), 45u, 25u, and RBC, or Random Bubble Contamination which in this case is comprised mostly of bulldog hair and honey mustard onion pretzel shrapnel crumbs. But the crumbs are beneficial, smoking honey mustard onion pretzel shards along with your bubble intensifies the high... hee hee! Shards are shown in bottom LH corner.
Total recovery was:
73u 3.2g
45u 1.6g
25u 0.5g
QC 0.1g
RBC 0.8g
total 6.2g

Things I will do differently next time:
I'll use a third bucket drilled full of 1/2? holes to sleeve inside the pail that is being used in the agitation step, so that I can process several batches of ice and trim in the SAME water, eliminating the need to go through the rest of the process multiple times.
Air pressure in the scraping step is an issue, so I'll drill a small hole just under the lip of the bucket to equalize pressure.

Anyway there you are! I am OUTRAGEOUSLY baked right now. I want to listen to the Eagles. I must be high. This shit's way better than iso. My only complaint is that it doesn't appeal to the risk-taker in me, who rather likes the possibility that her kitchen might at any time vanish in aFOOP! and a puff of blue flame.

The last pic is autumn in my county. It's pretty here. I like it. The colors look better when you are off your tree on bubble....

Neat-o! Couple Qs and comments.
What is a pressing screen and blotter? Is it something you can make, or do you need to buy it? I guess I'm getting hung up on step 6 for some reason. Are you repeating the wash on the pressing screen, or on the second bag?
How long does it take to save that much trim? (heh, the word trim cracks me up. I'm so juvenile)
That shore is a purty pitcher. I love autumn. I wish I could live where it's autumnal all the time.

Screen and blotter come with the kit and you don't rinse them during the process. They're just for pressing moisture out of the product.
You wash the bags.
That trim is about 10 plants' worth all dried up and crunchy- many people save theirs in the freezer though. I just don't have space.

Thank you! I get it now. I think my brain was suffering from lakkanukky. I tagged Papi for a quicky and I seem to be functioning much better now. About how many times would you estimate you can re-use the bags? Do you let the hash air dry, or wrap it and put it in the oven like the regular process?

I'm not sure; the bags are very sturdy and if you take care of them should last many many rounds.
I let mine air dry.
I am mentally clear this morning... I had a bout of lakkanooky over the weekend but the elixir showed up at my tenants' apartment last night, a pleasant surprise, and gave two thumbs (among other things) up to the hash...

Stinky: Deus Ex Dickina. And when that doesn't happen, Dick Ex Machina.

Neato is a great word.

i havnt used these before but a tip that i read somewhere to make the bags last longer is to do your aggitating in a bucket without the bags in it then pour into the bucket with the bags in. they are supposed to be sturdy though. though expensive. someone else found these and i think i will try these first.Blick Cord-Stretched Frame with 110 Monofilament Polyester Mesh - BLICK art materials (http://www.dickblick.com/zz434/29/)
if you look under screen printing you can find different frames, material, and hole sizes. the op said that the monofilament is what you need not the multifillament.
with the right screen sizes you should be able to do both dry and bubble with these screens.
good job stinky i have always wanted to try making some.

Yeah that's exactly what I did. You can agitate more vigorously too that way.

I almost forgot how much work the bags are.
I just put 150 grams of trim into the x-tractor, fill halfway with ice and water (just until the material is wet), let it soak for a few hours, fill it with more ice and water until it reaches the level of the agitators, turn it on, add ice as needed, and 8 to 15 hours later, I pull the liner with the trim out. Then when I see the trichomes stop falling, I pour what's in the cruet at the bottom through a coffee filter, and walk away with at least a half ounce golf ball of sticky golden hash.

Thats the same system I use. I made a few batches 3 months ago.
