View Full Version : Oxygen Mini-Vaporizer Help!

I'm new to vaporizing and wanted to buy one, so I opted for the oxygen mini-vaporizer (http://vaporizergiant.com/oxygen_vaporizer.html) due to it's small size, and low cost. I was really really excited when I got the thing and now that i've used it 10 times or so, I'm really disappointed. I can't seem to get what I need out of the herbs. So, I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong. Here's what I've been doing...step by step. Let me know if I'm missing something here..
First...I grind. I have a nice, metal grinder that gets it all about the size of a BB. I've tried super-dry mid-grade, and some semi-moist high grade. I usually set the unit around 380 degrees F and let it heat up, then I load the chamber. I fill it up, but don't pack it tight. Then I vape.....and 30 minutes later...just feel lightheaded from inhaling so much.
I've tried vaping at lower temps (270)....all the way up to 400. and still...nothing.
I'm a regular smoker...but seriously, smoking 1-2 hitter the 'old fashioned' way is enough to get me blazed.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! I really really want to make this thing work right!

Hi GrinS,
I've been looking at getting a vape for some time and your statement "... maybe vapes don't work on u." gives me big questionmarks!?
Can vapes not work for some people? I mean, we're talking about using an alternitive method to get THC into ones body, the method shouldn't matter... it's the chemistry that takes place within the body when THC is introduced that get's you "high". In which case, it shouldn't matter what device you use to get it in you.
Am I wrong (I am often, so just give me a slap!)? Or is there more to this that I am missing?
Thanks,
El Fantistico :smokin:

i had possibly thought that too. I know that when you smoke, you are releasing all the cannaboids out of the herb. I don't know if they all get released in the vaporizing process.
anyhow, I really don't think that's the answer...I've had 2 other people try my vap....neither one experienced anything.

You may not be inhaling slowly enough. Since you're passing hot air over the bud, if you pull too quickly, you may not be getting the THC oil hot enough to boil and vaporize. Try pulling very slowly. I've found with my vaporizer I can get it too hot and it will actually hurt more than smoking. Obviously if you do it right, it won't hurt nearly as much as smoking though. I've had people who claim they don't get high off vaporizers and I attribute it to a mixture of bias (yeah smoking hurts so it muuust be the best way) and high tolerance (the ones who claim vapes don't work smoke a hell of a lot and thus will not feel anything special when hitting a vape). They're simply healthier. Sometimes they get you higher, sometimes not. Its no different from smoking regularly. Some days you will get very high, some days not because of set/setting, tolerance, mood, bud quality, etc.

Hey sorry to hear about your disappointment with your vaporizer. I quit vaping awhile back when I found the Erbo pipe. It's not actually a vaporizer, but I've enjoyed it much more than vaping. The process they use is really remarkable and effective and it shotguns too.

if your temp meter is in farenheit then it should be at 400 to vape. you need it to be at 200 degrees celcius to vape properly, so maybe you didnt have it high enough. if 400 doesnt work then turn it up more, the heater in it could be shitty.

Sup El Fantistico,
I guess from these last few comments, if your a hardcore smoker then vaps might not work?
not to be an ass but that vaporizer you got is garbage. any of these vapes that are under $350 usually have very bad thermometers that do not accurately reflect the temperature so you may not be getting enough heat to vaporize. i would send it back if you can or sell it and buy something better.

Agreed. You tend to get what you pay for, and this is true with vapes.

i'll try pulling slower on it and see what happens.
my unit only goes up to 400 degrees...i've never tried it on that high of a temp yet, so i'll try that too.
or....i could just have a shitty vape. i knew that i wouldn't get the best vape for only $150, but I was expecting to get one that actually works! I don't think these are returnable once used due to what's being used in them...lol

i just took a heat temp gun to the unit....when turned all the way up to 400 degrees, it's really only getting up to 220 degrees max! awful. i'm pissed. $150 wasted.

so, I contacted Vapir about my problem. They said they were aware of this problem, and they had a case of these units ship out...I guess I was lucky enough to get one. They are sending me a pre-paid package to send it back to them, and they are replacing it, free of charge and throwing in some extras for my troubles. So, even if the new one doesn't work properly, at least the company is willing to go 'the extra mile' to try to resolve the problem!

cool man, keep us updated. I'd like to know how a correctly functioning oxygen-vape is before I spring for one :)

So, Vapir sent me a prepaid envelope and I shipped the unit back. Today, I got confirmation that they are sending me a new unit and it will be delivered by DHL. Let's hope this new one works! But, so far the company has handled this problem extremely well!

I got one for a present and I found that it actually works pretty well. It's nice to be able to pass the vape like a pipe.

my one cost £60 but it works even that is a rip off cos all you need is something to heat your herb (ideally metal) to a particular temp where herb just browns and dont end up ash, not let it escape then have a suck pipe. just imagine them trichomes being steamed letting go of their smoke into the chamber, pure art. them volcanoes and 200-300quids is rip off for the usual smoker

I got my replacement vape today via DHL. The new one works great and I am definitely enjoying my herbs in a whole new way. Vapir sent me a bunch of accessories for free too! i got a pack of cleaning sticks, a pack of screens, and a bunch of mouth pieces too. My only complaint is that they sent me a refurbished model as a replacement. Seeing as how I purchased a brand new one, and it never worked, I thought I would be reimbursed a NEW unit. Oh well, the thing works and I'm keeping it.
here's my review.
First, the unit heats up much better and faster when plugged into the wall. the battery sucks and doesn't last a very long time.
The taste is funny, but that could be due to the newness of the unit. I've read that lots of others say that it tastes strange for the first 10 times or so...I expect it to go away. The unit smokes smooth, like a hookah. You can take huge hits and feel like there's nothing in your lungs. No coughing. My lungs feel great! All in all, for the price, it's a good value. I was hoping for a more intense sensation when using it, but it's a small unit. I give it a 8/10

make sure you clean the screens after every 5 uses or so as it seems to clog up easily.
