This thread is intended to educate people on a style of growning called Sea Of Green....SOG for short. It is a method which introduces a 12/12 hour light cylce [using red and blue spectrum cfl's] when the plant is 3 inches tall out of germination. Thats Right THREE INCHES TALL ... this may seem strange or a weird way to give the love of light to your strands, but it works. Just keep this light cycle for 6 weeks, then during a day cycle use some #2 pencils (unsharpened) and twistix ties to add main stalk support. Those buds will have a growth spurt during the next 3 weeks. Then you start the drying and curing. There is tons of info out there on it.
After germination, use a blue spectrum cfl to grow the plant until she {hopefully} reaches 3" then ~abracadabra~ 12/12 in the light box sketched below. You also need to sex the plants about a week into the 12/12 hour cycle. More times than not, this rapid growth induces a female. Just look for long curly pistols this is female. If you find little balls, this is male. Just keep checking and sexing.
A good way to start the soil is by first using a small, cleaned 1" starter pot. Use starting soil. Get it from Wal Mart garden center. It has no nutrients, or bug killer, or anything except dirt. This is when the blue light 24/0 cycle starts. Keep this up till she is 3" like stated above.
Now mix up some more of this dirt with perilite and worm castings. All super cheap items at Wal Mart. That's it. Now cut the top off of a 20 oz. water bottle. Poke holes in the bottom for water drainage and fill one per transplant. Just use distilled water {pH 6.5} to water every three days for a couple weeks.
This will keep the shocked plant from getting fertilizer burn while growing more roots. After a week or two, start on a light all around nute mixed with water for feeding every 3 days. Only used distilled water the last 2 weeks.
NOTE * SINCE YOU ARE FLOWERING AND VEGETATING ALL AT THE SAME TIME, YOU NEED A LIGHT ORGANIC PLANT FOOD POWDER TO MIX WITH THE WATER AND JUST KEEP WATERING EVERY 2-3 DAYS.
*ALSO KEEP THE HUMIDITY BELOW 60% AT ALL COSTS.
*ALSO KEEP THE TEMPRATURE BELOW 75 DEGREES.
*ADDING COMPUTER FANS AT EXHAUST POINTS IS A CHEAP
WAY TO KEEP THE AIR MOVING AND THUS COOLER.
Alright, this is a sketch of a micro grow box that stands 3ft. tall, is 2ft wide, and 1ft. deep. It sits at your bedside and plugs one cord into a powerstrip. You should add plug in air fresheners or fan filters.
The top fits into the inner dimension of the top with a in-set cork lid design. Check out that there is not bottom. This is sit on CARPET ONLY!!!!! The carpet creates a snug fit around the cord and keeps light out during the dark cycle.
The lights are hard mounted onto a 2"x4" board cut to fit like adidas striped down the leg. There is one on both sides from top to bottom. They are wired from one to the next. Black wire to black....white to white on down the line. Then splice in a wire with a plug attatched at one end. Run this cord out the bottom to a powerstrip.
The bottom three are blue CFL lights to stimulate stem thickness and roots, the red CFLs are the top two to encourage bud development when she grows nice and tall. The whole process should only take 9weeks and the plant will not grow any substantial side leaves. Just a monster bud ontop and down the main stalk.
