I was talking to this girl from work and she said that she doesn't like it when guys call her cute, she thinks it makes her feel like the person calling her cute sees her as a younger girl not as a woman. I call girls cute and I was wondering if you all feel this way and I should stop. What are your opinions. I use other words too but i use cute a lot. We are both 20 btw

i use cute if she acts that way,but i see the meaning as acting innocent that may be interpreted to acting like a young girl

when ever i call a girl cute it usually means shes either damn ugly and im just being nice or shes too young looking or is too young.

Cute is for kittens and puppies and perhaps koala bears, you look damned hot and sexy is what I prefer.

I always thought "cute" was a silly term. Like Abeona said, cute is for cuddly wuddlies and puppy dog tails etc. Seems everybody is calling each other "cute" these days. Why can't someone be hot, sexy, gorgeous, beautiful, or handsom?

I honestly hate being called cute. It makes me feel childish. I would never call anybody on it if they called me cute... I would just prefer not to be called cute.

depends on what your/her definition of cute is... and what context you use it in.

I've resigned myself to never being considered 'beautiful' and am perfectly content to settle for cute. It suits me better anyway- partially a comment on personality, rather than strictly looks.

Maybe I'm strange, but being termed "cute" hasn't ever been insulting to me. I've been called the term my entire life, and it doesn't diminish me. I'm resigned to the fact that I'm probably more cute than classically beautiful. Heck, if people are aware and kind enough to use any sort of flattering adjective to describe me, I feel like I'm ahead of the game. I agree with Stinky, too, that they may use that term, too, because it also applies to my personality as well as my face and style.

i hate that. i get called cute all the time and it pisses me off. to me, cute is like saying "you're sort of not ugly" or "i'd do you in a pinch". i'd rather be called fine, or gorgeous or a dime.

i don't mind being called cute..but i mean, that can't be the only thing on the list..as long as its followed up by some other mature terms, beautiful, attractive, etc...i'm okay with..

sometimes i am just cute and cuddly..

Rather than using words as compliments, show interest and give the girl your undivided attention. Attention is stronger than words. Act happy to be around them, tell them about yourself, ask them about THEM, and treat them as an equal. Compliments tend to go to their head and they think they are too good for you.

I don't take it as insult. Most of the time I kind of like it because cute suits me. Whats important to me is what I see in their eyes when they say it and thats when I tell whether I like it or not.

"Cute" is mainly a common term. It's like saying your "nice."

Such a simple term, it doesn't make a girl feel special.
