Can someone explain to me what happens when glycerin is heated? Could it be possible that a glycerin extraction is harmed by heating?

Glycerin decomposes at 554F (which is its boiling point) to form a toxic and corrosive gas called Acrolein. You will know when this happens because it is a sharp acrid smell. Think I would just buy it pure, they sell it at pretty much every walmart/ walgreens type store. Don't kill yourself extracting it :smokin:

I mistakenly thought you were extracting Glycerin from something else and I realized that this wasn't a chem forum :stoned:. Keep in mind when heating, that glycerin can become pretty flammable too. As long as the glycerin is kept below that temp it should be all good. Good luck :thumbsup:

I was actually wondering about that... I mean, if you added nitrogen to glycerin, shouldn't you get NitroGlycerin? lol, probably not but still...

Well... making nitroglicerin from glicerin is pretty easy... but i wont put the recipe here, cause it use some acids, and i know the rules about other drugs... :p

apparently it is easy...you can find it anywhere on the internet...then again you could probably find ways to make a nuclear warhead on the internet...so...but no I'm not worried about blowing my house up heating glycerin...I just wanted to know if it boils early or anything. That was the original point of the question.

I have no clue, i just know when it coems to getting blown off the map but something i don't have a clue about i'm out of the project lmao. :thumbsup:

Haha....Don't think you gotta worry too much about anything blowing up...when it burns...its more like burning cooking oil. Hard to ignite but once it gets going it burns well.

Man... i did this experiment looong ago, when i was a teenager and used to play with chemical substances, most explosives, incendiaries and such... nowadays the only thing i burn is weed... :jointsmile:

I made a nitro-glycerine cannabis tincture and got blasted into outer space, man!
That stuff hit me like a bomb!
It blew my mind!
I totally went to pieces!

Hey, does anyone know how to make a plutonium cannabis tincture?

Plutonium Cannabis Tincture:

1/4oz cannabis
2oz mixed oxide fuels
1/4oz plutonium
1/4oz uranium
1tsp fairy dust

powder the weed
drop into mixed oxide fuels with uranium and plutonium pellets
heat up slowly, until the radioactive glow becomes very bright
remove from heat
add fairy dust
reheat slowly
stop, drop, roll
turn around three times while singing the opening song of the Lion King
what will be left is the most potent tincture known to man...

it'll get you really high...and it'll get you an extra arm...
