Ok, I got my light, What Now?

Hi, I got a HPS light. I have space in my attic.
Just got 4ft by 5ft to work on & about 4ft high too.

I need to know how far away to position my light away from the floor.

Idealy you should put your light on a chain so you can raise it all the way to the ceiling or lower it 2 feet off the ground(if your growing in 1 foot pots)

Remember when you flower/bud/12-12 you plants they will double or triple in height..

So, if you plants are 1 foot off the floor and you bud them at 1 foot tall and they grow another 1 .5 feet during flowering,...... thats 3.5 feet and the light can not touch the plant...

You will want to raise your light as the plants get taller..

may need to tie your baby down a bit...

try to get an ocilating fan in the room that will blow air in between you hps and the top of your plant.. this will allow you to put the light within inches of the top of your babies
