Why wasn't I high?

I tried smoking for the first time the other day after buying an eighth off a friends dealer. I rolled a joint and smoked it. firstly I had about 4 tokes and started feeling the effects, about 10 minutes later I had a few more tokes and then waited for the effects and then had a few more tokes to finish off the joint. In total I had about 12 tokes of this joint, which was filled with some good weed, just from the smell you can tell its quite strong. For some reason I dont think I was high. While reading somebodys thread afew weeks ago I seen a response which said "Being high is like being in love, once your high you know your high, and if your not sure then you weren't high". I'll describe what it was like for me. I had a few weird thoughts and definately had a better appetite after smoking, but after looking in the mirror my eyes didn't look any different and I didn't have the giggles or anything and the effects wore off after about an hour. So, heres my question, Why wasnt I high? Any tips on how to get more of a high out of a joint?

for some reason some people don't get high when they blaze their first time, not me though i was flying. Had this friend Danielle when i was like 18 that never smoked befoe, swear to god smoked like 7 times with her it never stuck, finally one day she calls me like I finally got stoned!! Guess some peoples bodies dun know what to dow ith the thc at first, it's wierd

yeah my best friend hated weed for like 3 years, cause he tried it like 5 times and never got high. then, one day i did bong hits with him, with tons of kief sprinkled on top of the bowl. he didnt say anything for like 10 minutes then he whispered "i forgot to breathe". so yeah, try it a few times and then one day you will just get really fucked up and it will be the shit.

did u inhale?...some people when they 1st start dnt get high cuz they dnt inhale...if u did inhale idk wut 2 tell u

I didn't get high until the very end of my second time. The first time I only had a few tokes and didn't expect to feel much anyhow. The second time I smoked a LOT. Probably 4 bowls between two people and I wasn't high for some reason until like 2 hours later driving home I just started laughing randomly and I knew...

I got super blazed my first time. I had people handing me food and what not, it was kind of a big deal though since I was basically (and this was only because I drank once or maybe twice before hand) completely sober til' I was 19.

Also, I don't know about you guys but I don't see a change in my eyes at all the owner of this thread states they were looking for.

theres all different kinds of 'highs' you can reach. the love analogy isnt bad i guess, it does take some practice to be high. i also LOLED hard at the 'i forgot to breathe' thing hahah

You probably didn't know how to smoke it proper. When I did it my first time I was with a group of people and had a G to myself. Smoked it out of this little one hitter...but they told me how to do it "properly". By properly I mean holding it in longer and taking huge hits etc even if you cough your lungs out. The first time I smoked I was high as a kite...its a bummer not everyone gets that way their first time.

Same question here. Weed will get you high even if your a first timer. The myth that you don't get high the first time is bullshit. People don't inhale or are so fucked up on some other drug they don't feel the weed doing anything.

Yeah... my first time, smoked 2 joints of chronic all to myself. I didn't feel shit and my friend was eating all of the food in my house. I figured weed just wasn't for me... then i had my second time. lol I got so baked, I walked 6 miles just to get to taco bell... munchies.

Mave, try this:

Smoke with a close buddy infont of iTunes with nice speakers + visualizer in a dark room. I'd put the chances of you getting high this time to 99%.
