I think its pretty cool and would vote for him.
The Associated Press: Colbert Announces Presidential Pursuit (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hFzxF7XLwi7Il2DVEE6la0NVo--gD8SB07VO0)
""I shall seek the office of the president of the United States," Colbert said Tuesday on his Comedy Central show as red, white and blue balloons fell around him."
What do you think?

I was hoping it would be he and Jon Stewart on the same ticket but.....:( He's still got my vote though.

He has my vote, for political satire of the year. I Like how Jon Stewart (real name Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz) calls the whole thing, "cluster fuck to the white house".

I just bought his new book today... I Am America... And So Can You.
HILARIOUSLY well-written. Plus, it's co-written by Paul Dinello, the art teacher on Strangers with Candy. I LOVE THAT MAN.

he's a good guy and a good entertainer but i don't think he is presidential material

Nah, he's not really running. The people have to know who they're voting for, there's no way a candidate could win based on a satire personality.

In 1968 Pat Paulson, a comedian did the same thing.
I see Steven Colbert as a Conservative Repulican, and that is not a good thing to be in my eyes.

He's definetly not a conservative republican, he only plays one ;) (Thats why its a satire)

Mixed emotions about this one. I would rather have someone like Ron Paul in office, but I would not be entirely dissappointed by having Colbert as a President, as that would be a good sign for America, as it would be like blowing smoke into the faces of the old fart conservative republicans in office, him being a comedian and all. If a comedian can run the country, then how far off is marijuana legalization? Right?
But, I am not familiar with his political opinions. He plays a conservative republican on his show, but I'm just not familiar with his actual personal opinions on today's problems.

Ok, the info is from Wikipedia, but.......
He is a self-described Democrat playing the character of a right-wing Republican.
Also, I thing he's running only in his home state of South Carolina.

I like Colbert but I'm still supporting Ron Paul. If though, for whatever reason, Paul does not get the GOP nomination and is not going to be in office, then Colbert would be my second choice. I kinda wish Jon Stewart would run though because i actually think he would make a good president.

I think we all remember Colbert's views on cannabis.
"So, you're saying, Steve, that if I come over...you can get me pot?"
(not actual quote)

OK. The deal is he is running, but only on the South Carolina primary ballot. I am almost positive you have to run as you are registered.... this means he is on the ballot as an Independent.
Ya know....If he pulls votes away from all of the Billionaire Career Politicians then I say HELL YEA!!!!
We as Americans have gotten away from the "For the People, By the People" mentality and all but handed the power to these life long politicians. We need more average Joe's, like you and me, in the offices.
GET ACTIVE. TAKE OVER YOUR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. SCHOOL BOARDS. TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENTS. ZONING BOARDS. Could you imagine what you could do if you suddenly won your local election for TREASURER?!?!?!?!?!?
and the funniest part of this is that most of the time (especially in small towns) NOBODY RUNS AGAINST THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION and A LOT OF COOL PEOPLE DON'T VOTE. A LOT OF YOUNG PEOPLE DON'T VOTE.
SPICE IT UP FOLKS....IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO CREATE CHANGE.
START LOCAL. ~ MOVE TO COUNTY. ~ ADVANCE TO STATE. ~ GO NATIONAL. ~ TAKE BACK YOUR FREEDOMS~

The guy has probably no experience whatsoever in that field, but he sure the hell seems to understand all that is wrong with this country, that's a win in my book.
I think so many people are afraid of change, we have AFAIK never had a president like this before so we have no idea how it would be, it could be a world changing thing, but people are afraid to let someone like that run this place for just a few years to test the waters for some reason.
I think of it like this: picture the US as a pizza restaurant or some other food place where managers continue to be elected to run the joint while the common workers know how the place is really run and could do it better blindfolded.

^^ Watch all three parts, it takes balls to do that to the presidents face. I think he would do good for this country. I will vote for him hopefully he wins.

He is running in South Carolina as a 'favorite son'.
I don't expect to see his name on the ballot though. (SC resident)

I definitely would not be surprised if he won. Know why? Because it's stupid and people are stupid. You elect a comedian to run the country?
C'mon now. This isn't Man of the Year.

I like how he paid to run as a democrat with a personal check. He chose to run as Democrat because it cost some ridiculous amount to register as Republican and because nobody takes Independent candidates seriously. haha.

he would do a better job than bush or any of the republican front runners I bet  ..simply because giuliani is a fucking crook, and john mccain wants to wage war on every country in the world...

i think he will have a better chance at getting younger people out and voting. theres no doubt his show is popular, so i think there might actualy be a chance with him. it would be the biggest slap inthe face to all the professional cannidates, that try to do nothing more their whole life, and he just says hes goign to do this on a show, and thats that. i mean look who hes trying to get to sponsor his campaign. DORITOS! what does that appeal to? stoners everywhere
