Can you guys give me some options as far as strains with very tight buds? I need something that is genetically perdisposed to producing compact buds, something that I can get online, ideally not $300 per pack, and that will grow up here in Canada. And not the warmer end of Canada either. I know, it's tough. I'd appreciate any crumbs....

DEpending upon your usual autumn weather, you may not want excessively tight buds- if you tend to have rainy Sept/Oct, you run the risk of mold.
I have always liked the look of Soma's Rock Bud (AKA Soma A+) though. You might want to have a gander and see what outdoor specs are.

It has a lot more to do with the growing conditions more than genetics to produce tight buds. Sure genetics play a part, but as long as you keep your temps under or around 80 degrees during daylight hours and over 60 at night, and add C02 your buds will be fine.
Wait your talking outdoor arent you? Well then living in Canada your temps rarely go over 80 anyway dont they. Stinky's right you might not want them to be too tight with the type of weather you guys face in the fall.

Thanks for the input guys. Like you said, 20dolla, tight buds are as much a product of growing conditions as genetics. I was simply disappointed with the density of the buds this year so I guess I don't have the conditions down pat. I'd like to give next year's grow the best chances of developing denser buds as possible. I am working on improving conditions as well, but I thought starting with a strain that produces denser buds might also help.

lots of light, helps produce dense buds, and genetics ... CO2 does little, if anything ... studies have shown that adding CO2 is only of benefit, IF all other growing conditions are perfect ... CO2 is good, don't misunderstand, but don't waste your money on it, until you have everything else perfect ... :smokin:
