BEIJING, Oct. 16 ?? Chinese officials warned the United States on Tuesday not to honor the Dalai Lama, saying a planned award ceremony in Washington for the Tibetan spiritual leader would have ??an extremely serious impact? on relations between the countries.

The Dalai Lama, a Nobel laureate, has lived in exile since the Chinese army crushed an uprising in his homeland in 1959 and is revered as the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists. He is scheduled to receive the Congressional Gold Medal on Wednesday.

China probably wouldn't care if he was covered in lead paint. We'll take the Dalai Lama and they can keep their shit goods.

Have a good one!:s4:

What petty assholes! What business of theirs is it if the US wants to honor the leader of Tibetan Buddhism? The whole world should not have to bow to their doctrines of religious supression and illegal occupation; maybe the Chinese government needs a new slogan: "It's Mao way, or the highway".

Howdy Psycho4Bud,

I was wondering,do ya now what the dim's response to this is ?

I can't help but think that Hillary would immediately apologize to the commie chinese and send the Dalai Lama packing..she was on the View just the other day and she wants to send Americans around the world to apologize and declare that there will be no more "Cowboy Diplomacy" coming from America..so that we can git back to being 'friends' with some of the worst humans on the face of the planet.

Have a good one !

Eh' screw China.

And like everyone above me has already said, what are they gonna do? Maybe put even more lead in our kids sippy cups and barbies?

But in all seriousness, they have A LOT of bonds from our country and could put us in a recession if they cashed them all at once.

And if we quit buying their goods them bonds won't last for long...without sales to the U.S. their economy is screwed also.

Yeah I know, im just saying though. The results on both sides would be pretty bad. At least for a while.

I think our economy can handle it

Without sales to the US, their economy would be more than screwed. They'd nosedive into a depression so fast it would make your head swim. And there's no way they could recover in the foreseeable future because the rest of Asia would step in to fill their place.

...and, if push came to shove, China would be forced to float the Yuan on the world currency market, effectively doubling the cost of all their exports to everywhere in the world - again allowing the rest of Asia to more effectively compete against them.

In China, one of the most important aspects of life is the concept of "face". Essentially, the worst thing that can happen to a person is to be embarrassed or belittled or in any way publicly made to look bad. They are dead-ass serious about face and often contort the facts of situations just to suit the purpose of never losing face. So, Hu will make a few bad-ass public statements, showing that he stood up to the President of the United States, and that will be the end of it.

...and the Chinese people know who is fueling their economy and they don't want to rock the boat, so Hu saves face and everybody's happy.
