View Full Version : how do i connect a yamaha YST-SW105 subwoofer to my computer?

i can't figure this thing out. i'm beginning to think either it's not possible or i'm lacking what i need. if you can help me in anyway it would be greatly appreciated.

Depends what kind of input connector your sub has. Mine uses RCA (red/white) jacks so I needed a phono to RCA adapter to get the signal from my soundcard to the Sub.

OK, is it a single RCA cable simmlar to this?

If so, then look at the back of your computer, near where your PC speakers are plugged in, they will be plugged into the green socket labled "front".
You need to plug your subwoofer into the orange socket labled
"C/Sub"
You will notice that your plug is to big to fit into the socket, so you will need an adaptor plug...available from electronics/hi-fi stores.

you mite need to buy an amp, then you can run that from your pc and then your woofer from your amp.
or you mite need a new sound card with the right connector
