I've always wanted to try this but never did but I am now. These three little ladies will grow only one main cola each. They will be cut each time the internode stretches away from the main stem. ( see pic 2 ) Tieing them down would probably be a good idea so the cola can grow thick. We shall see.

Time for another cut. Cutting off the big fan leaves before they are replaced with newer fan leaves should not be done. So I will wait to cut the next set of internodes until then.

you're cutting away leaves that the plant uses to sustain itself, both with light and stored nutrients ... plus, the possibility of stress-related problems ... I know it has been done, (was a fad a few years ago), but see no good reason for it ... good luck, but, kids, "don't try this at home" ... :smokin:

Maybe you should just cut the internodal growth but leave the fan leaves there. I'm currently doing this only because i'm getting as many cuttings from the c99 mom as possible. But i'm leaving her to flower one main cola, so i'm not taking the fan leaves off only this shoots.

yeah, if the cuttings are for clones, no prob ... Cinderella pretty much dont care,

Plants need leaves to develop properly. Otherwise mother nature would have left them out.

I agree with you 100%. No reason for it other than to try it out:D

I am going to definately put this in the back of my head for the next time I decide to try this.

I don't think you read the very first line of the thread (not trying to be a smart ass). I have always wanted to try this and now I am. How do they look?
I know they look a little stressed but that is because my air pump went out and I don't know how long it was out for but when I noticed I exchanged it and the growth has been great. They are tied down to each other and the lid of the rez. Very stable plants.

Air pump to what went out? Do you mean that your fan went out and the plants got heat stressed? Or did an air pump for reservoir aeration went out, and the nutrients were stagnant? (I can't tell if those plants are in soil.) Whichever it is those plants look fried. If it's not heat stress I highly recommend flushing those plants well, then starting again with about half the nutrients you are using now.
Also I think you could do what you are trying, and still leave the fan leaves on the plants. The plants would probably be much more healthy, and you can always cut them off at harvest and nobody would know the difference.
Looking forward to the end result.

Fried? Yes they are. The air pump to the res went out. Right after I gave them a healthy early dose of kool bloom to jump start flowering. I noticed two days after I changed nutes. They look better in reality than in the pic. Nice and green with minor leaf burn. They are in hydro. I don't cover my soil.
I totally agree with leaving the fan leaves on.
I too am looking forward to the end result!

I'm thinking that the burning is from over-doing the nutrients, and not from the air pump going out.

Trip out on this, the ppm level today was 897. I don't think I over did it with the nutes. If anything they drank up alot of nutes. I had to replenish n-p-k.

You made good on your promise to start this thread. I've always been interested to try this but never have, so it will be nice to follow this and see your end result. Good luck and I'll be back.

Thanks.
Here are a couple of pics for update. They seem to be doing really well.

Looking good, did you say what strain they were? They look like the leaf in side of the colas are large. At least that means they will be able to soak up as much light as possible.:D

OK klondike, please don't bug the guy about it any more. He's had enough poking about this. He said it was an experiment and he said he will do some things differently if he does it again. I say bravo for the effort. Looking forward to final yield.

well lollipoping is good but if done right...well you didnt doo it right...first you need to have a 5 to 7 gallon pot..and you should of trimmed the plant way befor the time you did it ..and not to leave just the top... if done right you would of made 5 to 6 huge terminal upper buds with wth bottom cleared out...

ledgrower,
I'm sorry. Will you find it in your heart to forgive me for not doing this to your standards?
Anyways, the final weight was 105 grams dry, 450 grams wet. Easy bud is the strain pete. The main colas themselves weighed over 24 grams each plant. I don't think the yeild is too bad for 2 1/2 gal res. Thick nugs! Usually I get over a 1/4lb without lollipopping growing four plants. So yeilding close to 1/4lb lollipopping three is pretty cool. Since this grow I have changed back to growing in soil. I am preparing to do 16 site grow using 2000w in a 2 x 8 x 8 area. Just waiting to harvest my current ladies in flower.:D
Nothing wrong with hydro but I get aggrevated that I can't control the growroom completely yet and soil is more tolerant to heat during the summer so for now hydro will be up on the shelf and only utilized to clone.

Job well done. I think you let the floralicious go about 2 weeks too long though. The buds on the other hand, are perfect.

I think the proof is in the pudding (or big mofo buds for that matter). Nice job.
