So i decided to Wiki it.
Wiki says that it is "extinct."
I'm assuming he has something that is Purple Haze esque.
What should I be expecting from it?

Good to know.
How is it? Worth the money?
It's extinct. Anyways, theres alot of weed out there that is either equal to or better than purple haze. 99.9% of the time, your dealer or your dealers dealer will just make up some shit to sell more weed. Don't listen to this guy ^^. If his feel turned into wheels like in Transformers than it wasn't weed. ;)
I get a similar effect from smoking about 2 blunts by myself it was weed
Like I said it was my second time using it and the strain was strong
Purple haze is extinct. That is, if it ever existed. Plus, Sour Diesel is stronger.

i've had purple haze and the buds looked like christmas trees with the trich crystals sparkling under a light. shit was awesome talk about a one hitter quiter. if there arent large crystals visible on it then it's not what he says it is. they also call it purp where i'm from.

no but this guys got it right. sure purple haze has history, buti thought pot was 100x more potent now than before....and if purple haze is old genetics why woudl everyone want it? geez get your story straight DEA....sorry. anyway bottom line is, ive had a haze strain, that was purple(most likely due to dropping flowering temps), and it was only OK. It wqa quite fluffy and quite sativa, and not being a fan of sativas i thought it was only OK.

Purple Haze is not to be found. You can still bring it back into the gene pool, if you're willing to grow out 1000 beans. The purple haze pheno is one that shows up in the Original Haze, and the odds of it showing up are 1:1000. It's no longer around, because while it was pretty, and technically a true purple - one who's colors are not brought about by temperature fluctuations - the other valued aspects of marijuana - flavor, smell, high - were found to be lacking in this phenotype. So people stopped growing it.
Weed is not 100x more potent now than it was previously. It has been proven you cannot increase the potency of a plant more than either one of it's parents. The potential power of a plant is a genetic imprint that cannot be raised. Lets say you have a Nothern Lights plant that you maxed out at 22% THC. Say you've grown a Haze female that hit 23% THC. You cannot cross a male and female from these breeds (max THC around 22-23%) and get a plant that will hit 30% THC. Weed seems more powerful now than previous, because previously, most growers were chucking seeds in the ground, watering them like any ol' plant, and letting Ma Nature take care of the rest. Now we have great growing resources, a lot more equipment and information to make indoor grows successful, and we have unlocked more of the plants' potential than had been do previously. So the plant didn't get stronger, our methods just got better.

how can you say it is extinct when somebody could have seeds/plant somewhere , i think you mean to say it is commercially extinct.

Why would anyone want to keep it alive though? Just because it's named Purple Haze? It's a hard to grow plant, with low yields, and so-so high. If you want to grow purple weed, there are strains out there that are much more potent and tasty then Purple Haze, and are easier to grow. There's no logic as to why Purple Haze would still be around...

Liquid Magik makes excellent points here.
PH is extinct, if indeed it ever existed as a viable and true-breeding strain (doubtful).
There is a so called 'Purple HAze' on the market but it's a recent introduction SPECIFICALLY created to take advantage of nOObs who think that the name means it's ooooh so special... but as we know, fools and their money are easily parted.
Yet another example of putting too much emphasis on a name... would Purple Haze by any other name smell as sweet?
NOPE!

I've bought "purple haze" that was just really good weed. It wasnt even purple, it was just really good normal haze.

Five words. Washington Heights, New York City. If you know the right spots you WILL come across some purple. Purple bud with a high that seems to last forever, and a nice strong high.

Hahaha, weed is 100x stronger now? Nope. Back in the 70s when they did tests of marijuana potency, they didn't understand the effects of time and climate on the buds, so typically the THC was already breaking down before tests were even run. That fact, combined with a better understanding of cannabis and advanced growing techniques has boosted weed's potency to around 2x-3x the potency back then, at best.

What should I be expecting from it?
if it's actually purple, expect to pay $40-60 more just because of that fact...
Never trust a dealer what they say something is, they just say what sounds interesting...I sold a guy one time what I told him was specifically 'cotton candy' I knew, because I knew the gentleman who grew it...I soon find out he was selling what I sold him to people I knew for $20 a gram and telling them it was 'blueberry kush'
trust me bro, as long as it gets you high enough for what you're paying for, buy it...but don't expect for it to be the same strain as which they tell you:thumbsup:
And for the record, purple haze has long been gone...there's certainly purple varieties now...but purple haze is something of the past :stoned:

that sounds legit.
why do people even act like greater potency is a problem?
isnt that good??

I frankly dont give a shit what strain it is......so long as its decent quality and gets you fucked up.
Lets leave it at that shall we?
EDIT: In fact there is a stickied post in the cannabis pictures forum to that effect http://boards.cannabis.com/cannabis-pictures/133032-identifying-strain-bud-plant-pics.html
Its speaks the truth.

Purple Haze has been extinct, but there are a lot of customs. Like the PH #1, PH #2n. They only differ a slight bit of the original PH.
You wont be buying REAL purple haze. It wont be the real genetics, therefore it's not the real strain.

purple haze was era started back up when camron made that CD purple haze.Hendrix was the first to talk it about it though.Hollywood and music have a large influence on weed names/strains.The entertainment buisness makes it popular and then people run to it like it's the best thing out.Soon everyone will want that weed that is going around called thrax it's big in SOUTH EAST STATES.
