Ok so i was on the way home from the state fair with my friend and he said he wanted to see how fast the turbo was so i got on it a little on a stretch of road where no cars were, i got up to about 95 then hit the brakes and slowed to a stop when the light turned green i went about 45 untill another light and then a cop came flying up behind me and pulled me while i was sitting at the red light. he gave me a 95mph ticket and said i have to come to court in a month. any help on what to do? i have never received a ticket because i usually drive the speed limit... will i lose my license? or just have to pay a Ticket and go to traffic school?

First ticket you can go to an online traffic school TO avoid points on your license but you might want to save that for the future for you can only do it once. This is for your insurance but you'll just have to pay a ticket and thats if he gives you one. I mean if your a contributing member of society and you messed up and got "One" ticket a judge might see that and let you off. Hmm or he could be in a bad mood and throw the book at you. Think positively and you should be fine wear a suit

don't know what state you got popped in, but doing 96 mph is gonna be $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ just about everywhere, these days ... some cops are known to reduce the speed on the ticket, to give you a break ... if he wrote down 96, you're probably in deep do-do (some states, it's an automatic 'reckless driving' over a certain speed) ... get a lawyer, it will be cheaper than your insurance rates for the next few years ... (good advice, I'm a retired truckdriver) :smokin:

95 mph??? your real damned lucky the cop didn't ARREST you and IMPOUND your car. The normal citations for such as that along with speeding, you can also look for RECKLESS DRIVING, and possibly RACING ON PUBLIC STREETS.

Either way, figure on a major fine..... probably close to a grand, loss of license, and your insurance rates go through the roof (assigned risk) when you get your license back.

me and my buddy got clocked at 118 and that was after we slowed down. Mind you this was a small town. Go to court and the judge fined him $700.00. My buddy about shit his pants and had this stupid look on his face. So the judge asks him if something was wrong, and he asks the judge "Dont you think thats a little high?". Judge says,"well Mr.what do you think it should be?", and my buddy says "How about $200.00". I couldnt believe he was in here negotiating with the judge. Long story short the final bill was $700.00, and gave him 3 months to pay it off.

Make your friend help you pay the ticket since "he wanted to see how fast the turbo was"

That's deflecting the blame imo. His friend didn't force him to put his foot on the pedal, he had a choice.

dont know if youre in california. out here past 25 mph over the limit is reckless which means your shits taken but i dont know, i got pulled over once i was doing about 85 in a 60 zone and he wrote 80 i had to pay 60 + ticket school which is hella gay. but look forward to going into the savings account and maybe buy a bus transit. what kinda car do you have?

Hey man, best advice here: If the cop wasn't using his radar to catch you, and he just saw you going fast and estimated 95-96, then you can take it to court and win because the cop cannot prove without reasonable doubt that you are guilty. And if you take it to court, he'll likely not even show up and you got out of a ticket. But you gotta spend money on a lawyer unless you know someone, so traffic school may be the cheaper way out. However, you're royally screwed if he was using his radar. Get a scanner

That's a myth that cops don't show up. They get paid a 5 hour shift for 20 minutes of work. Who wouldn't show up?

In my state, thats reckless driving. You're a lucky fella, here they would have cuffed you in front of your friend, made them walk home, and then tow your car away.

But.... I'm guessing its not quite as harsh where you live, as you aren't in jail. If you have money, get a lawyer. If not, dress up nice and defend yourself in court. I'd bet that it really just depends on if the judge reads the funny section of the newspaper the morning you go into court.

I'd just go before the judge and plead insanity.
