Hello everyone,
A friend that i know just made a system using a Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier (75$) that blows the cool mist into a 30 gallon rubbermaid container. He cut holes on the top and placed plants in root pots into the holes allowing the roots to hang in super dense fog. He mixes nutrients up and puts it right into the humidifier and everything seems to be growing fine, tons of root growth. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard about something like this... My plants and his started at the exact same time, and while mine are a little bit bigger(but far less root growth) his are keeping up. When the nublizer breaks apart the water does it bring all the nutrients with it? what about pH? I was also thinking would this work for foliar feeding, ive tried it a couple of times on my plants so far and they seem to like it. What if i used carbonated water instead of normal water... would the co2 come out of solution with the water vapor? Sorry for all the questions but i really need some expert advice and opinions :stoned:

Only issue with the Ultrasonic humidifiers is that they break/degrade over time with heavy use especially if not cleaned regularly with the special cleaning solution they make for humidifiers....which I found out is NOT plant friendly, the cleaner left a residue on the plants which stunted growth until it was 'wiped' off each and every leaf, pita.

I'd be very hesitant running any type of nutes through it as I'd suspect it would only foul-up the Ultrasonic device even quicker, as I have noticed they are sensitive. I'd save the humidifiers for vegging in dry climates/areas (<35%RH). .02

Yea im still skeptical on the whole idea. I'm going to stick with my DWC setup, but ill kept yea updated on how long the humidifier runs for... its been running nonstop for almost 7 weeks. The only thing i would want to use it for is foliar feeding... that is why i was wondering if i could use carbonated water, because then i would be giving the plants co2 along with the nutrients. Maybe have it setup so that during veg it would mist the plants with nutrients and co2 every couple of hours...
