View Full Version : How to jump from a building into a dumpster

1.Jump straight down. If you leap off and away from the building at an angle, your trajectory will make you miss the Dumpster. Resist your natural tendency to push off.
2. Tuck your head and bring your legs around. To do this during the fall, execute a three-quarter revolutionâ??basically, a not-quite-full somersault. This is the only method that will allow a proper landing, with your back facing down.
3. Aim for the center of the Dumpster.
4. Land flat on your back so that when your body folds, your feet and hands meet. When your body hits any surface from a significant height, the body folds into a V. This means landing on your stomach can result in a broken back.
Be Aware
* If the building has fire escapes or other protrusions, your leap will have to be far enough out so you miss them on your way down. The landing target needs to be far enough from the building for you to hit it.
* The Dumpster may be filled with bricks or other unfriendly materials. It is entirely possible to survive a high fall (five stories or more) into a Dumpster, provided it is filled with the right type of trash (cardboard boxes are best) and you land correctly.

yeah but if enough cardboard boxes stack up it will get hard and kill you, 5 stories is a eally long way, ok so thats like 55 feet, and we fall at a rate of 9.8 meters/second, so if your falling that far and that fast into something that has an opening of about 4X4 feet, your going to have a hard time hitting it i would say, but thats just me

Yeah, and falling backwards, so you dont see whats coming. Your head would probally be sheered off if you neck hit the edge...just a thought.

What if the dumpster was filled 50 feet high with empty cardboard boxes and the height you were jumping from was 55 feet.....I might try it then (with a helmet and kevlar vest....) :D

Lol but then you'd have to make another 50 foot jump off a stack of cardboard onto....a parking lot?

The only thing that should be falling off of a building from 5 stories up is bird shit.
If it is a human being that jumps off the 5th floor for a small 4 x 4 opening, that human being is 100% fool.
I will leave all that falling to the bird shit and the fools, thank you.

If I was trapped in a burning building I'd do it. I'd rather die from a drop than being burnt alive, that would be harsh! Unless you were just referring to people doing it for a laugh.

I think I would try it, if I get to stage the dumpster with the RIGHT materials...maybe one of those space age mattresses;)..I would try it from the 3rd floor first..just hope my head dosent hit the edge of the dumpster..that would suck.

Hhaha the thought crossed my mind as well
also... falling back first on the side wouldn't be pretty; or falling with a leg on the outside, and the other one inside. Ooooh man that sounds gory
Haha anyway, I've been really interested in parkour and free running lately. Seems like it could be part of a cool little run, heh heh

If my life depended on the jump, I would jump.
I was most definately refering to the thrill seeking fools that jump because they can. They are too much for my little bit of insanity.
