do the plants stay in the rockwool cubes even after you put them in the net pots or do you remove the rockwool at some point?

If you try to remove them you will damage the roots and kill the plant.Put the rockwool cube in the net pots and fill with hydroton and cover the top of the cube with hydroton and cover the the net pot so light dosnt get to the roots. PEACE

Anything opaque enough to block light. Panda film works very well, a couple of layers of thick, black trash bag would work, etc.

Never. Rockwool sucks. It holds way too much moisture. Just lay your rooted cuttings directly in the clay pellets. If the roots don't go all the way to the bottom of the pot, then lay them on some capillary matting, and have the matting go to the bottom.

opie, what do you think is the best way to germ a seed and move it into a hydro net pot set up without using rockwool ?

If you must do that, you can use peat pellets, rapid rooters, a sponge, capillary matting, or anything you can keep warm and moist. Notice I said moist? It's really hard to keep rockwool moist. It wants to stay wet. All of that stuff can be used in hydro. Some people who use rapid rooters cut away the netting and let the medium gently fall out, other just put the rapid rooters in clay pellets or other medium. I think their web site says you can use them in soil or soil less.

I avoid that whole mess by putting the seed directly in soil to sprout. I've had the best success this way. There is no transplanting, therefore stressing the plant. Once the plant is a few weeks old I go to bloom and weed out any males, and take the best ones for mothers for clones. I root clones in my cheapo-aerocloner, thus using only females in my grow area.

all you have to do is take rapid rooters and place them in clay pellets. then just pour some water over the RR to keep it moist, the seed will pop up outta the hole and keep doing the same process till' it has it 2nd set of leaves then add mild nutes to your dro' setup and it's off to the races..........works every time..........muhahahhahahhaha..........GL

sounds good, ever had any experience with coco pellets? I found them for pretty cheap, and a small quantity. I am only going to need to do this once, should be cloning after I get some good ladies, so I didnt want to buy 96 some rockwool or any other large amount if I didnt need to....

I bought a 1/2 bale of rockwool when I first started. More than 99% of it is still sitting in the shed. It makes real nice mouse homes.

And yes, by all means have some mothers if possible. Much more bettererish.
