Hello, once again everyone. I have something else that I'm interested in. BOG's Blue Moon Rocks and Nirvana's Papaya are my two latest projects. I want to start a mom of each strain (Veg/Clone Room). Afterwards I want to create a flower room for clones. Not sure which hydro style I want to use (DWC, Flood & Drain, Aeroponics, etc.). I would like to have two seperate tables (Early Flower and Late/Harvest Flower). I'm thinking about using 2-400 HPS or 1-600 HPS, but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

QUESTION
The BMR and Papaya are in the WaterFarm under a 400 MH. They are being hand-fed because I believe that they are too small to survive on its own through the WaterFarm (drip ring). I have a pH meter, but I don't use it because I believe that it is reading the wrong info. I don't think that it is calibrated correctly, and I don't know how to fix it. I have read the instructions but still don't understand. My alternative is General Hydroponics pH testing solution (You take a sample of the nutrients/water and put it inside of the little container with the cap, and you add the three drops to see what color it turns). This is how I test my pH. I can't be precise as to reaching the correct tenths (5.6, 5.7, 5.8....etc). I just match the color (6.0-Yellow). I use one drop of SuperThrive per gallon every other watering. The plants get watered every 3 to 4 hours. Being that the babies sprouted about 20 days ago (2 weeks seedling stage/ first week of veg)...I believe thats how you tell the age, do the plants seem a little behind? The reason I ask is because I do a lot of reading on different forums and sites, and I have read threads where some people were at Day 21 (from sprout) and it seems like their plants are way HUGE compared to mines. The fan leaves and branches have better development than mines (at the same age...if they are telling the truth). So I guess I'm trying to say, "Am I doing something wrong? If so, could you please help me get on track!"

Hello Boss,The lighting I would use two 400watters.The 600 you can only get a convertion bulb. The 400 have HPS & MH bulbs and are cheaper.Your babes look great,go ahead and put the rings in place and let then go.Start them on your nutr at 1/4 of the bottle useage say to and then bump them up a little as they need it.and they will take off. What kind of PH meter do you have?Theres one or two small screws that you turn to adjust it.You have to use the PH buffer solution to calibration 4.01 &7.01 solution.Using two 400 watt lights you can run one with MH and the other HPS.Hope this helps.PEACE

Thanks for the help!! I guess that I will be going with 2-400 watts. I put a picture of the pH meter I have. Do you really think my babies look good? They seem healthy to me, but they seem a bit smaller than average...but, thanks for the compliment! Like I said, I read the instructions to calibrate the pH meter, but I'm kind of lost. Not too sure on where to purchase the buffer solution. I'm going to check my local store for some solution.

QUESTIONS
1. I would like to run two separate setups (10-Early Flower and 10-Late/Harvest Flower). 20 clones shouldn't be too much to handle. What type of Hydroponics system would someone use for this plan (2-400 watts MH/HPS, two separate setups containing 10 clones each)??

2. If I put the drip rings down, would the roots be able to get enough water? I believe that the root system is still too small to be fed by the drip ring, but I'm going to give it a try.

3. I have two types of nutrient-trios (GH 3-Part & FoxFarm Trio). Which nutrient brand would you use to start off with?

4. Could I use General Hydroponics pH testing solution to adjust some water close to 7.0, and then calibrate my pH meter using the adjusted water?

Hey Boss, you have two sets of leafs,It's time to add 1/4 the strength nutr.I use GH 3-part nutrs. They have a feeding chart at hydroponics.net go to the bottom of the page and click on learning center.there's a ton of infor and the weekly feeding charts and more.
To calibrate your pen you will have to buy the calibration soluition,4.01 & 7.01.You cant use your nutr solution to calibrate with.On the pen there's two trim screws, one for the low ph 4.01 and one for the high 7.01.You put the pen in the 4.01 solution and turn the screw and the same with the 7.01 sloution. Now it's calibrated. You will do this about one time a month ,just so the pen will give you the right PH reading. To have a early and late crop just start one and 5 weeks later start the second. Best of luck to you. PEACE

I'm going to add some nutrients ASAP! But still for some reason, I don't think that the water is reaching the roots when using the drip ring. Do you know a website that sells the pH solution? I know that I could look for it on a search engine, but I'm trying to find out what is recommended by the users. When I mean early and late crop, I want to harvest 10 clones around every 30 days, because I like to smoke more than the average. I was thinking about a Flood and Drain or some type of Aeroponics system to use. Thanks for all of your help!

Is there something wrong with the Papaya leaves? If you look at the pictures, it seems as if the leaf tips are curling down just a little. Not sure if its natural, or if there is a problem. They are being fed with Fox Farm's Grow Big and Tiger Bloom at 1/4 strength around 5.6-6.0 pH under a 400 MH. The Blue Moon is looking just fine, but for some reason I think that it should be a little bigger. I have also noticed that a friend's babies are younger than mines but the first couple of sets of leaves are bigger.

The first three pictures are of Papaya.
The last two are BMR.

If you want to flower 20 plants at the same time, you will need a lot more than 2x400W lights. Flower under that combo with 20 plants, and you'll yield as much as you should have growing 3 or 4 under a 400W. If I were you, I'd get 2x1000W for that number of of flowering plants, at the minimum. For your clones/veg/mothers, invest in some CFLs, much cheaper than MH and when used correctly, will keep your youngn's very short and stout.

Also, I'd lay off the nutes for another week, they're still too young for that. It's probably why the leaves are curling. Good luck!

I guess that the babies are doing kinda well. Starting to LST the Papaya. Its a little too early to start LSTing the Blue Moon Rocks, because I don't think it has stretched out enough. Made some adjustments to the WaterFarm by adding a 4 inch airstone inside each of the WaterFarms. Drilled 3 holes in each side of the top container to help tie down the branches for LSTing. The Papaya already started to make some adjustments from LSTing. Not too sure on when and what to tie down next...any suggestions are welcomed. I've read a lot of LST threads, but none gave a time frame as to when to tie down the next adjusting branch. Its on GH 3-Part and SuperThrive at 5.5-6.0 pH.

Thanks for the input! I believe that 2-1,000+ HPS would be too much electricity to run constantly. Would 2-600 HPS do the trick? How much wattage (CFL) would be needed to keep 2 mothers and her clones healthy?

The first three pictures are of the Papaya being LSTed. The last two are of the Blue Moon Rocks.
