For those of you who don't know there is a game called geocaching

Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site (http://www.geocaching.com)

This is a game played with GPS and is kinda like a treasure hunting game...

WHY SHOULD I CARE?

Because, Geocachers "players of the game" hide boxes of "treasure" all through the woods and country side. so there may be one close to YOUR GROW!!!!

HOW DO I CHECK?

Well you have to go to the geocaching website, make an account and then do a search for nearby caches. You can also look at a version of google earth with the caches listed.

So check before you plant, better safe than sorry.

yup, geo-caching is slightly popular, and doesn't hurt to see if they're nearby your grow, but, most hikers aren't playing that game, so possible 'discoveries' probably arent affected that much ... Murphy's Law: "if ya plant it, some bastard will stumble upon it" :D

Good post:thumbsup:
Stinky and I recently discussed the ability of 'rippers' to charter small planes or helicopters, and tag visible grows via GPS. This season has been shady for the outdoor growers (no pun intended), and I cant help but consider the possibilities/capabilities of over-zealous law enforcement AND/OR the piece of shit thieves, who have already violated MANY of us!

...if anyone feels this should be deleted to avoid fueling a BAD idea, I would completely understand;)

good post, that didn't occur to me ... I was only thinking of the geo-caching game ... I guess 'both sides' can play airplane games, too ... damn it, something else to worry about

Worry not my friend. Organization, self control, caution and preventative measures are all part of a recipe that helps me relax about the things I cannot control.

I used to wonder how somebody as streetwise as myself, could be so naive when it comes to dreaming up scams or crimes, then I finally realized, it's just because I'm so damned honest-thinking ... I felt a lot better when I figured that out .. :smokin:

I found an official geocache in a park the other day. I was suprised at what terrible prizes they had put in it.

I read their website when I bought a GPS, but never looked for anything .. wish I'd thought of that when I made a cross-country trip a few weeks ago ..
