Hey guys and gals, I'm doing some research on a potential breeding project. I have volumes and volumes to learn before I begin. But I wanted to pose the question to some of you about the availability of south-asian genetics.

So far Reeferman seems to be one of the only places to get something close to pure. I really would prefer to start out with something that hasn't been crossed and/or worked to any great extent, so that I have a "clean slate" from which to start. Yes, I have a couple of dominant goals in mind, but thats another thread entirely.

Specifically, I'd like to get my hands on a Thai, Vietnamese, or Cambodian indigenous sativa strain as a first selection in the process. Problem is I cannot simply hop a plane and travel there, or I wouldn't be posting this. Any sources you folks could suggest?

I had read an article in CC about certain land race cannabis. Apparently over in Vietnamthere is a cannabis plantation growing a strain called 'the dalat'. The gguy who wrote the article fought in nam and smoked this fantastic herb and met the owner of the plantation and went back 30 years later and to his suprise The man he met kid's are running the plantation now and still producing the wonderful 'dalat'. He said that he had brought a ton of seeds home but was never able to acclimate the variety to the conditions in Cali.

Apparently the 'Dalat' is super famous amoung Vietnam vetrans. The picture of a 'Dalat' plant looks like any other Sativa , but with dark leaves and buds that look like swords.

Thanks 20dolla. I read about the Dalat also. Good article. Have him send me some seeds will ya? j/k But yeah the only things I've turned up so far are from vendors I've heard nothing about. So, there's no telling what would really be in the package. Since this isn't a one-time grow, I really need know before buying, that I'm getting exactly what was advertised, ya know?

If I can't turn up anything in the next month or two, I may base this project on something from central Africa. We'll Seeeeeeee!

a pure Thai would be somewhat similar ... my Willie Nelson is 50% Vietnamese Black, I don't know of anyone carrying a pure 'Nam weed ... regardless, the Viet and Thai are a plant best left to very experienced growers ... intolerant of stress, and hermie-prone, plus, it needs a tolerable climate for a plant that takes 14-20 weeks for flowering, and if indoors, 20-foot ceilings :D ... (I love 'Nam grass, but won't likely be growing it again) ... :smokin:
