So I have been absent from the boards for a few days because last Sunday I was in my very first bicycle accident on my new bike. Here is the story and the details: Its kind of funny to be honest with you.
(first I would like to admit that this accident was essentially my fault because I was very, very stoned while riding and it happened during the night time. I was also alone.)

So Sunday night I biked to my friend Matt's house, which is maybe a two minute pedal from my dorm room. We blew through several bowl packs and watched some television. I got antsy and decided since it was a warm night, that I would ride around the nice neighborhood and look at the houses and the river. ( i LOVE riding high, its the closest i'll ever be to flying). So I hopped on Jane (that's my bike's name) and headed towards Riverside Dr. It was shortly after 12am. I had been riding for maybe 20 minutes and I was in the ZONE! I mean, I was tearing up the road just hypnotized by the hum of my tires on the warm asphalt and the rush of the wind past my ears. About 50 ft. ahead of me a woman was getting out of her Toyota. I saw her opening her door and I tried to swerve to the left but it was too late, i clipped the side of her door. (this kind of accident is refered to as a Door Prize, as the dude at the bike shop told me) I'm serious, it was like some kind of slapstick movie moment. BAM! I'm really not sure what exactly went down, but I was sort of thrown over the handlebars i guess. Luckily I was wearing a helmet. Anyway, the nice lady helped me up and took me inside and bandaged me up. My chin, shoulder, hands and right thigh are all road rashed up and supposedly I dented her car door a little. Everything is very, very sore but luckily nothing was broken. My bike tire and fender is bent and the saddle and pedal are pretty torn up but I can replace them. I called my mom and told her what happened and she chewed me out for 20 minutes for being a dumb rider. I learned my lesson: don't ride high at night, always wear a helmet, buy a headlight, and watch out! Thank goodness I wasn't killed! But I do feel really, really stupid......

Thank goodness you're OK, Bizz. I'm so glad you were wearing a helmet and weren't hurt worse. Sounds like the lady whose "door prize" you won was nice. Glad she bandaged you up and was nice about it!

I went down on my motorcycle at 70 MPH two days ago. Bet I got worse road rash than you.

I was totally thinking about how much you could sue her for.

Until, you forgot your light.

I'm glad you're okay.
