I have been doing some selective pruning of leafs, is this really bad in the first week of flower. I haev read it was bad, but I started by taking out some broken/bad leafs and I noticed the massive growth were ever I removed the leafs. I did it a few more times but not sure what the general guidelines are. I have a short plant but it sure is wide. Right now I am 12" tall, but from wing tip to wing tip I am about 36" wide one way and limited by the 18" the other way.

So since I was leaning the center out, like parting hair, I would trim a few of the huge leafs that was blocking a lot of light, then the next day I would see great growth.

There are two plants in here, but you can hardly see the small one on the left, as the other one has been growing into it for some time.

Nice stalk, this is where I am trying to encourage more growth by removing some of the big fan leafs, is that bad?

The more large fan leaves you cut off, the less light the plant can process and the more stress you put on the plant. Try just bending them out of the way rather than cutting them off if you're just trying to light the lower areas.
