that actually happened to me twice... the first time i was drinking on the back porch of the woman's house i was takin care of with her daughter in law, and she was really drunk so she asked if i wanted to smoke weed.. i was like naw i havent smoked in a while so i dont have any.. she said she had some, but had no piece or papers so i stuffed a short ciggy and ripped off the filter and totally smoked her out.. i had none of my tools so i had to stuff with a fork..
The second time, another one of my bosses came back from his bookeper and found out he was basically bankrupt.. so he was like look, i know you smoke, and ive had a really bad day and i need something.. i rolled him a hooter and gave him a massage... he fell asleep for 6 hours.. hahaha noobs...

I've burned with several of my bosses, way back in Noah's Ark days, and never had a problem. Usually, they have too MUCH to lose if they try and start a hassle or something. So, I'd probably say something like "man, I smoked boatloads in high school and college, but it's probably kill me now," and then laugh like hell and see what his reaction was. Then I'd make him take a piss test, LOL, ha, ha, ha...

MY boss doesn't smoke cannabis because he's epileptic and he finds it scary, which I can understand. The assistant boss tokes though, usually me bringing her alittle something in.
So either way, I'd toke it up with them. Not much though, got to be ready to work.

My former bosses in corporate America took themselves and their positions far too seriously to ever spark one up or suggest it. Even in fantasy, it's almost impossible to contemplate.

Had I had a cool, loosey-goosey boss that I completely trusted on a personal level and he'd suggested a smoke, my inclination would have been to say "Heck yeah! You got a lighter? Wanna have a beer at the same time?" But that would never have happened.

My last boss I worked for was the most uptight guy in the world. No one ever needed to smoke cannabis worse than that guy. He also needed to get drunk and laid a lot more than he did. My husband always thought the guy was a heartbeat away from a major coronary or stroke just from uptightness alone.

I had that happened at a job where I was a Director. The owner came in my office and lite up and we smoked. It was great until the company sold to a larger company and they had a drug policy.

But, to answer your question, it depends on the boss. My old chef was very open about his drug use.

When I worked for a government contractor, everyone was a lot more uptight. There were about 10 to 20% of us that smoked weed. I could tell.

The other one...not so much.

When I worked at a commercial greenhouse, my boss was regularly offering me herb, but I didn't smoke at the time. Silly silly me.
Now that I have a job in academia, I'd be shocked but not terribly, and olny because of my boss specifically... you'd be surprised at the number of very straight-laced and even stuffy looking academics who are closet "Chronisseurs".
I would at least insist that he have some of my stash of honey mustard onion pretzel shards, because I've always thought he was a tiny little wisp of a thing and needs some fattening up!

Oh! And Edit, I would insist that we follow proper lab safety procedures and smoke away from the solvent storage, wear personal protective equipment, and use the bio hood so as not to offend others who might not enjoy the smoke so much.
