WASHINGTON - Thwarted in efforts to bring troops home from Iraq, Senate Democrats on Monday helped pass a defense policy bill authorizing another $150 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The 92-3 vote comes as the House planned to approve separate legislation Tuesday that requires President Bush to give Congress a plan for eventual troop withdrawals.

The developments underscored the difficulty facing Democrats in the Iraq debate: They lack the votes to pass legislation ordering troops home and are divided on whether to cut money for combat, despite a mandate by supporters to end the war.

Hoping the political landscape changes in coming months, Democratic leaders say they will renew their fight when Congress considers the money Bush wants in war funding.

Just some more play on words that keeps the far left going to the polls.

A trillion here, a trillion there, first thing you know you're talking about real money.

Interesting... the bill was originally for $190 billion in funding.

It is a lot scarier when we read "wars" instead of "war".

Tell me, what do *you* (or we, as a people) have to gain by this war? Other than "our freedom," since it's blatantly obvious that this war has nothing to do with getting rid of people that want to oppress us. How could they anyway? lol.

Howdy mfqr,

For one thing,we're fighting the terrorists overseas, rather than here,we've liberated the Iraqi's and the Afghanistans, caused Libya to stop it's wmd program and we're in position to fight Iran and Syria, which are the roots of terrorism and a direct threat to our ally,Israel.

As for how someone could oppress us,that's easy, just take half of America and convince them to give up without a fight..which is what the dims have done and will continue to do..as they're only invested in defeat.
