Favre broke Dan Marino's record for career touchdown passes Sunday, zipping No. 421 to Greg Jennings in the first quarter of Green Bay's 23-16 victory over the Minnesota Vikings.

He hit Jennings on a 16-yard slant for the score with 4:56 left in the quarter, and like most of his touchdown throws through his brilliant 17-year career, this one had plenty of steam on it.

"It feels great, but I've never considered myself as good a quarterback as Dan Marino," Favre said. "Dan was a hero of mine. To be mentioned in the same breath as Dan and other guys really makes it special."

Ever the jubilant celebrator, Favre sprinted to the end zone and hoisted Jennings on his left shoulder. He joined in hugs with his teammates on the sideline, as thousands of Packers faithful who made the trip from Wisconsin cheered loudly.

Even those dressed in purple stood and applauded when the announcement was made, and a taped message from Marino was played to congratulate Favre, who threw for another TD in the fourth quarter. He finished 32-of-45 for 344 yards, the 50th time he's topped 300 yards in his career.

Fourth all-time in interceptions thrown with 265 (Tarkenton, 266; John Hadl, 268; George Blanda, 277). Would finish the season with approximately 269 at this season's current pace.

First all-time in career playoff interceptions thrown with 26.

Only one player has caught a Brett Favre pass in both college and NFL play. The passes were interceptions, caught by cornerback Deion Sanders - as a Seminole at Florida State in college; then as a Dallas Cowboy and as a Baltimore Raven in the NFL.

Favre's very first pass in the NFL resulted in a interception returned for a touchdown. His most notable accomplishments, aside from going 0 for 5 passing with two interceptions that year, were missing the team photo (he'd been out the night before), for which he was fined, and making a $100 bet with Jerry Glanville that he could throw the ball into the upper deck of Fulton County Stadium.

I forgot to cite that. It was copy and pasted from Brett Favre - encyclopedia article about Brett Favre. (http://encyclopedia.tfd.com/Brett+Favre).

Favre is what is right with football :)

I'm so happy that get got the record, but even happier that they are 4-0. He deserves it

Remember the Monday Nighter against Oakland after his Dad died? What an athlete. I bet the Falcons wish they hadn't cut him :stupid:

Yeah, you're right, they did trade him. I can't believe a team could spend a second round pick on someone and barely give them a shot.
