Hey Everyone,I have been researching, reading, and finding out all the information I can on dwc for the past year and half,I am ready to take the plunge (pun intended)and get wet.I was thinking about starting with just 4-6 ind.units to start with a controller bucket, and a res.

My question is this, with the remarkable growth, yields, and results from dwc what would happen if you pumped the space for the roots? My water bill in not a problem as I dont have one.I was thinking of running 4-6 18 gal tote containers with a 45 controller container, and a 50 gal. (or so) Res.Each 18 gal container would get one plant in a 6"inch net pot with 4-6 weeks of veg.I do have vertical limitations which means anything close to 6' would have to get moved to the side of my 1k hps lights.I know this would produce some huge trees given ideal conditions(means no screw ups on my part, lol).Im thinking about doing this and topping the plants a week or so before moving them into my flowering room.

My space is approx.10x12 with three 1k hps and an ideal plant height of 5'5"-5'8".I did a grow last winter and for various reasons my girls had three months of veg and I had real problems with the vertical limitations in my space.Great yields for a first time grow (avg.4.1 per plant dry)and I learned alot.

I just built a diy aero cloner and took over 50 cuttings this weekend and it looks like one is not doing well and the rest look great.Lots of small scrapy cuttings that I wouldnt normally take and so far (I know its way way early)they look good. This has given me the confidence to try to build my own very lage dwc system. For the cloner I used a 45 gal. rubbermaid tub,1/2 pvc tubing and about 50 sprayers with a 535 (or so) sub. pump with home made inserts(pipe insulation, foam).

I would appreciate any input from the experienced folks (and I know there are lots) on my ideas.Has anyone gone this large with ind.containers? It just makes sense to me as the only limitation on this particular method seems to be container size.

Containers dont need to be that big .
Our rooms are identical in size and height  6ft sucks , Im jealous - I only have 2000w. though :D 4.1 oz. or lbs. ? You'd be suprised . :) I only top once right when your talking and average about a lb. per bucket . Could yield more by additional topping but tying all that to the ceiling is a p.i.t.a and hinders my spinning the buckets easily .

Check out my last go , maybe some ideas etc...^

You can never have to much grow equip. bro. be careful it's contaigious huh ?
Peace

Thanks for the input...4.1 dry oz in a soiless mix my first time out.I have another 1k hps in the wings but it seems overkill as I have trouble with temps now.Glad to know Im on the right track about topping.Ive been pretty tenative about any clipping, trimming at all.I did clip the smaller thin branches this time and that is mostly what I took the cuttings from.

I know your right about the containers and their size.I was just wondering what a person could do with a series of 18 gal containers and a 2-3 month veg.I think about that often and wonder if one had the vertical space if you would be able to match or beat an outdoor grow?

Hey Crispi,

I just finished going over a number of your threads, and all I can say is..."Im not worthy,Im not worthy"...holy smokes, that is really some impressive plants and results.I did pick up a few pointers and the threads did answer some questions I had.Like how in the heck do you keep things from clogging up with root systems like you had, well I saw your fix.

Weedhound: thanks for pointing me in the right direction, great stuff.Im also looking at your Rhino thread right now.

Hey Charles ,
W/ enough topping I've seen 5 lb. plants in 5 gal. buckets indoors .

Ckeck out a Noob to our site Shaggytruedope - 4 - 18 gal. dwc bubblers 5600w. = 12 lbs. These expectations / things your seeing in your head can be made real very easily . :D Gee officer - It's only 4 plants - that shits all personal . :D

I intentionally drop my lights back down when I cant cover the canopy any longer = more light to the bottom of the plant and 0 underdevl. buds and sucker branches you talked about cutting off . But once lights dropped dwn I spread them out and spin them 90 deg. everyday so all sides of the plant get a fair chance .

Weedhound and I have been putting our heads together w/ this for almost a yr. now . Shes up from an all time bucket best of 2.5 oz. up to 8.5 oz. now depending upon strain .

I just did like 2 more mos. of work and improvements to that room I linked you to If your interested - chk. it out .

Peace bro.
I'll be watching for you

Hey Crispi,I did check out the link and room, very very nice.I cant seem to search and find the link to the 18 gal=12lbs deal you mentioned.Yup,its just what I have been thinking of.Pretty sure I will stick to 5 gal buckets and Im sure I will still struggle with vertical issues anyways. Thanks for the tips on dropping the lights. The first run when i had six foot plants I just did the best that I could and moved them off to the side.I also liked the idea of zip tying(I love those things, its the only thing that keeps my old Harley together sometimes, haha)stakes to the sides. That would work for me as my ceiling is so filled up with fixtures, ducting, fans, etc.Ill keep searching for the Shaggytruedope grow, thanks again for all of your input brother, have a good night.

Hey Crispi,Thanks I found the thread,Im somewhat inept at searching but given enough time will find it eventually.Ya,its pretty impressive, its also a really interesting lighting setup he has there. All of that yeild and the plants were only four and half feet tall, wow. Thanks for inspiration, gives me hope that this can be done.Ill probably start getting things in order and will take a run at it right around new years. Thanks again brother.

Thanks Crispi,I have started a price list for my ultimate and regular setups and I have used Texas Hydro as kind of a base price to go off from.I noticed that lots o' places have much better prices but really stick it to you on the shipping.Overall they seem to be pretty fair with pricing and shipping.Great setup, easy and quick. No sharp instruments to cut, slice, and dice myself with, haha. Not the swiftest guy in the world.I made the aero cloner and made it with out bleeding I was so proud of myself.Three days later Im taking cuttings and ended up sticking an excto knife in my foot, haha. So sooner or later Ill bleed on my projects, its why I have misshapen skinless knuckles, haha. Thanks for the link and all of the input. When I get going Ill post a pic.Take care brother.

Yup Im all about saving a dollar or two when I can. Thanks for letting me know the fellas at Texas hydro will match prices with a link, good to know as I always prefer getting all of my stuff from one source if I can.Sorry to hear about your accident years ago, glad to see that you are still able to raise your own meds, thats just great. Thanks again for the info, inspiration, and good words brother, have a great day.
