GH Waterfarm 4 gal kit

I had great success on my first hydro grow but I think I bought way to much shit but nonetheless the results came out great.

So I bought one of these"

my question is about the drip ring. The water drips only on the edges at the top. I have a baby started in one 1" rockwool cube (just sprouted) if I put it dead center in hydroton, how is it going to receive the water/nutes if the drip ring is only emitting water on the edges. To me is seems like the water would just filter straight down the sides and not make it to the baby which is in the center.

Those drip rings keep the hydroton pretty uniformly moist- Waterfarms work surprisingly well.
You might have to hand-water the cube w/ a Tbs or so of water for the first couple days, but it'll root in fairly quick.

If yer worried, fire it up w/ just a RW cube ( no seed/cut) in the center for a couple of days ( take the plastic off the cube, if wrapped) and watch what happens.

I just put mine closer to one side of the ring. Maybe an 1" off center. And as suggested, just add a little water for a few days, but they do root fast.

...and to keep water from splashing onto your seedlings simply make a protective inner ring out of alum foil on the inside of the drip ring (only an inch or two high).

I've seen not so smart people drive all the way to the Hydro store and spend money to try resolve splashing issues when they could of gone to their kitchen for a fraction of the cost/time ;)

I used some left over mylar and made covers like you would put under your christmas tree, I did this to stop the splash and reflect more light.

Well, I started to use one of these kits and quickly learned that keeping the PH under control was quite a chore so I scrapped it and went back to the 18 gal res. Way much more forgiving!
