So i find this post on another site regarding a growing method called the Hempy Bucket. (I'm sure it may have many names).
It's basically a bucket with a small hole cut two inches above the bottom. Then you simply add 75% perilite and 25% vermiculite to the bucket and you're good to go. You water through the hole which gives you two inches of water to be used by the plant before next watering.
And that's it !!!!! I saw some great results using the method and it is specifically mentioned that root rot is never a problem.
This sounds too easy to be true... no pumps, no nothing, just put the water in (with standard 3 part nutes) when it gets low and you're good for another couple of days.
I intend on trying this my next grow since it's just as cheap as soil but obviously would grow much quicker since it's 'passive hydroponics'. One person suggests adding a bubble stone to the bottom of the bucket... but judging from the pictures that's clearly not really necessary.
Is it really as simple and good as 'advertised'? And if so, then what is everyone doing with expensive pumps, reservoirs etc etc...
Also, does anyone have a link to some more grow logs using this method?
Here's a couple of links:
