I've seen a few people here who claim to have schizophrenia and smoke pot, I'm just curious as to what it's like for you when you smoke. Does it make it worse and is that what triggered it? Do you get more hallucinations while on weed?

I have disorganized schizophrenia- characterized by disorganized, random patterns of thoughts, Mild auditory/visual hallucinations (like a phone 'ringing'), difficulty concentrating, and some memory loss.
I began having symptoms before I began smoking pot... I was VERY depressed, couldn't sleep, didn't eat, I felt completely blank and emotionless (the absolute WORST feeling in the world) and I was having over 30 anxiety attacks per day.
I was introduced to it from a good friend, and although it doesn't have any effect on my hallucinations, it helps a lot with preventing any depression, I sleep MUCH better, and I don't have anxiety attacks anymore. A lot of the stress was triggered by chronic pain I have, and the pot helps to reduce the pain, so by default, I feel MUCH less stressed.
I can appreciate my life now, and getting stoned helps me appreciate and harness the disorganized thoughts I have.

In Cali, it's a nice long list, plus "any other chronic or persistant medical symptom that either:
(a) substantially limits the ability to conduct one or more major life activities as defined in the ADA of 1990; and
(b) If not alleviated, may cause serious harm to the patient's safety or physical or mental health."
Bottom line is, if you have ANY medical condition, you can find a "less than ethical" clinic to give you the recommendation as long as you have the $$$. My doctor is not one of those- you need a legit problem with him. - Granny:hippy:

I would never ask to have a MMJ card on the sole basis of my schizophrenia, though... Anti-depressants and low doses of anti-psychotics do a good amount of the work for me, but I would need it for my chronic pain; an increase in pain triggers stress, and stress exacerbates my symptoms. And I do believe Fibromyalgia is on the list, under chronic pain? I don't know, I don't live in Cali.
