I got a full moon tonight...

I always think that things always seem much stranger when it is out..:chainsaw:
the good thing is though it gives you good light for walking at night:jointsmile:

I think "Pull your pants up, man!"

Wait a minute. You mean the moon in the sky?

I think, "Emergency rooms and labor wards are busy tonight." In the autumn, I think of harvest moons and wonder what it must have been like for the astronauts who walked on earth's moon.

I always think of werewolves, then about how beautiful the moon is. I never realized until now that that's what I think of everytime.

Do you think there are more accidents on full moons than regular days?

I don't know if officially there are or not. It certainly seems like it in hospitals, though, and Birdie and her firefighter-medic colleagues seemed to have some of their craziest, heaviest shifts in fire-rescue work during full moons. Tonight where we live, I've heard the ambulances and fire trucks leave the nearest station about five times more than usual.

We always used to take vacations around the September full moons before Bird was back in school and go down to her grandparents' summer place in the Gulfport-Biloxi area. That whole area was wiped off the face of the earth by Katrina two years ago. When it was the way it used to be, though, it was so nice to go out fishing on the Mississippi Sound at night when the fish were jumping and biting. You could sit on the deck of a boat or even on a pier and throw out a line. A fish would practically jump up and take the hook before it hit the water.

and its helpful if your trying to spark up, at night, and dont have too much light to work with.

I am sure you are talking about the Gulf of Mexico..I used to live in Florida and went fishing many times growing up and the fishing is just outstanding..great variety and abundance.

So is her grandparents place still there? or did it get wiped out?

I used to work at a convalescent hospital, and I agree with Dr. Byrd. People just go goofy! Crazy, goofy!
My sister works in the emergency room of a hospital, and she'll swear more babies are born on a full moon.
I really like full moons though. Very awesome to gaze at.

Yeah, the Mississippi Sound is part of the Gulf of Mexico. It's the coastal stretch from east Louisiana to Mobile that's separated from the larger Gulf by a long stretch of barrier islands.

That house got wiped away in the hurricane. Her dad sold her grandparents' house about three years ago, a year or so before the storm, because her grandparents were both gone by then and upkeep wasn't practical from Texas. When Pop and Nana were alive, they were a lot closer in Louisiana, but they'd been too old and frail to enjoy it for the last couple of years before Pop passed away in 2001. We younger ones all still went there at least twice a year though, and could always find people who wanted to rent it out the rest of the time. It was this great, big old, waterfront house with a wraparound porch that they'd had since Bird's dad was a small kid in the late 30s or so. Wonderful low-hanging oak trees and a great shady lawn. Heartbreaking that it's all just a memory now. Those lots where those oceanfront places were washed away are now selling for redevelopment for about 500K to 800K just for that empty land.

When I see a full moon, I look at the planets in the sky, think of the sun reflecting off of them, and, then feel the arms of our celestial sisters as we revolve.

edit: It was awesome. At 6, this morning, on my way back, I saw the moon right above the road. It's close to the Earth.

It's a fact-At the hospital where I work, it does get crazier. Especially Mental Health-twice as many restraint calls when there's a full moon. And more OD's in the ER.

i think: not going coon hunting tonight. or if im going buck hunting, don't get out there so early because for some reason, the full moon makes critters in the woods not move around so much when its dark.

also i think, can't see the stars as well...

and when im drinking? i howl at it.

1. I don't have to leave the porch light on during a full moon....

2. Not a good time to germinate seeds...wait until "dark of the moon" (new moon)(folk lore)

I think millions of things when I gaze at a full moon. I think of my wolf brethren and imagine the thrill of the hunt.. running together. If I feel the presence of a wolf anywhere near, sometimes I howl for it. Very rarely though... Im hardly ever in the right area anymore. But in Alaska... they would howl back. And I miss it :(

I also think of how it is the very first step in the most magnanimous cosmic odyssey we humans have yet to take. And one that I hope to be a part of. And possibly even a forerunner in... I would love to get abducted.. taught the ways and languages of an alien lifeform.. see the other side of my galaxy... I want to experience EVERYTHING.

Then my brain goes off into billions of tangents in trillions of directions, all at the same fuckin time. It gets overwhelming sometimes.

I sometimes howl, occasionally I cock my leg against a tree, but lately I have had this strange urge to lick fire engines, can't understand it personally.

I think that somewhere, there's someone else looking up at the moon the same time I am, and we have a "moment"; one with a total stranger I've never met.

That, and "Wow, I just remembered Apollo 13 was such a badass movie."
