ive had a stupid piece of fucking glass stuck in my foot for about 6 months now and it hurts so bad. i don't want to go to the doctor because i witnessed my mom getting a shot in her foot and i REFUSE to go thru with that. so I need to remove it myself. However, the little bastard just wont come through. Any suggestions? Its on the bottom of my foot, just below my pinky toe.

Shoot yourself. OR go to the doctor. If you work, your insurance should cover emergency room visits 100 percent, and shots are NOT that bad. :) SMILE - and go to the doctor.

yeah man, get a shot, it wont be that bad man, if you're afraid of them it helps to not look at the needle when it's in... close your eyes and think about smoking a blunt on some peaceful tropical island as they do it... but seriously go get it taken out, that cant be good

is it red or slightly black- ish purple? if it is u have an infection, which could move into ur blood stream and KILL YOU! OR a little thing known as GANGRENE! isnt a shot in exchange for life (possibly ur foot) and all the beautiful weed available? Man up!

Stop being such a weenie.

After what I been medically in the past year, a shot in the foot is nothing. I give you no sympathy, do what's best for your health.

I despise needles but hey they are apart of life. Get over it and goto the doctor or shut up and stop bitching.

It's seriously not that bad. It'll pinch for 2 seconds, then it'll be gone.

how can you compare that to gangrene, losing a foot, possible death? cmon bruv what are you on im seriously questioning the credability of this thread, i mean cmon splinters bits of glass......this is some shit to fix..the skin covering the glass/splinter normal dies off within minutes you can slice over the object and ease it out upwards.

ask for a topical anesthesia before the shot just like the dentist does. Doc will rub or spray it on first and you wont feel a thing after that.

longer it stays in your foot the more skin will grow over it and thus putting it deeper in your foot....

yeah man i stepped on a piece a glass back in august, and i spent all night trying pull it out, and it was too deep, and so i had to go the ER in the morning, they just gave me a shot in the foot, and 5 min laters the glass was out.

so my recommendation is, go to the doctor, and you wont regret it.

If you're really that frightened about the shot, you can tell them not to give you local anesthetic injections first. They are obligated not to give you a medicine if you refuse it. The problem is, when someone begins extracting a foreign body from your foot, you're going to have far worse pain than the lidocaine injection ever thought about being. You can also ask them to apply some cold spray or topical lidocaine gel to numb the spot before they inject you.

You won't be allowed to administer lidocaine injections to yourself, and you shouldn't attempt self-extraction of the glass. If you take a sharp object and begin digging around in your foot on your own, you risk getting a bad infection or injuring yourself more severely. Someone who knows sterile procedure with good light, a better angle, and suitable instruments needs to do the extraction to make sure the entire glass shard is removed and the wound properly cleaned and dressed afterwards. If you attempt it on your own and cause a wound infection, that'd make the ordeal you'll be facing far worse than what you're dreading now. Hilder is right. Cellulitis. Sepsis. Gangrene, even. Bad mojo, that stuff.

Just go. You'll be glad you did. Glass in the foot doesn't go away or stop hurting, especially if it's in a weight-bearing area. It just embeds itself deeper, which ultimately makes it worse to take out when you get around to facing reality.

dood...i got mashed into a brick wall by a damned car. at any given time i had at least 3 iv's in me, cuz others would stop working. i'm pretty sure they didnt have time to numb me before starting the iv's either...and then there's the pesky fact that they used a power drill to drill straight thru my leg while i was conscious.

hell, if that doesn't get you...i also had a shot in my effin spine when i was in labor w/my son...and i'm deathly paranoid of needles, and pain, and being afraid in general.

i've been in more pain than alot of people could imagine (although i do bow down to Xcrispi, he's got me beat in that catagory)....so really....seriously dood...just go get that shit taken care of. even if it does suck, you probably wont remember much of the pain afterwards....

moral of the story: grow a set and take care of your damned foot!!!

You've probably put yourself through the pain of a shot many many times over by walking on glass for 6 months.

I don't like shots either, but daaang kid, get yourself to a doctor! Close your eyes and think nice thoughts (girlfriend, your stash, how you won't be in pain much longer...) It isn't THAT bad!- Granny:hippy:

Honestly, just go to the doctor. Any sort of blood poisoning or infection is shitty, however small it is. It won't be that bad, just look away.

Ask them if you could have a topical (few drops of tetracaine 0r a little Hurricane freeze spray) before the lidocaine.

Suck it up and go to the doctor, they are there to help you. Do you think you are going to get better advice from a bunch of stoners on the internet or from a doctor?

Yeah, man, get a doc!

A few shots in the foot of lidocaine is NOTHING compared to some of the needles that have been poked through my back to my spinal canal... :P

Be lucky you haven't contracted an animal bite with rabies- they're the WOSRT series of shots to go through. Damn...
