Damnit, I just thought people may get a kick out of this. I've been working for this company doing random crap like filing and such for $12.50/hr which I consider very easy money for the amount of work I did. I've been there almost a year now and today they hired a new head of the department. Well this new fuck calls me to a meeting to fire me. The whole "oh we like you but we have no need for your services at this time" and the best part "we'll call you if we need you in the future". This new assisant's expression doesn't change and I could tell flat out they're not gonna call me. Ahh, w/e. Back to minimum wage :hippy:

I'm sorry dude, that really sucks! I'm sending some good vibes your way. I'm unemployed myself, so I know the feeling. I've also been fired, laid off, "let go", so I know what you're going through.

That sucks, man. Didn't they give you some kind of reason? What about severance pay? You are certainly qualified for unemployment benefits, which would probably be about the same as minimum wage while you regroup. Good luck.

They gave no reason. It's probally because this new manager wants to get rid of as many people as possible. I can see how I would be first to go since I'm like the assistant to the fileboy which is the way bottom of the food chain. No two weeks notice either, they said don't come in tommorrow. I should get a new job soon, just gotta stop being lazy. I can't collect unemployment because I think I'm still considered a full time student.

lol be thankful for the year you got, that sounds like it was a good thing you had going. I may have the same job you had filing, office bitch (not bad at all), and not really doing much at all but only making $7. who knows maybe youll find a better job. keep that head held up high .

It's probably a blessing in disguise. You don't know how the future will pan out. Keep your head up high, proactively look for opportunities, and continue to learn and grow.

eeeeek. I lost my job too... I used to cut strawberries at the organic grocery store. They told me I talked to much, listened to the music to loud... bah! I agree with THCbongman though. It's a blessing in disguise, you just cannot let the grass grow under your feet so to speak... you'll find something good.
I gotta hope for it, cuz I need some hope myself.

yeah i know the feelin, got fired for a 9$ hr job where i literally did nothing but chill in the stockroom and talk to all the girls, there was only one other dude that worked there and he was my manager. I maybe did between 1-2 hours work for an 8 hour shift.
They had to let me go, because according to them they didn't have enough hours for me...
Its total bullshit but what can ya do?

I recently quit third shift at mcdonalds (I love third shift but couldnt stay because its to hard to find a babysitter). It was the shit I was a manager (but I dident have to take the classes) and we did barely anything talked played cell phone games ate as much as we wanted and smoked I will never have an easier job ever. I suggest to anyone who can work third shift it rocks especially with cool people.
good luck with your new job

Dude, I had to register just to tell you this. You might be able to get unemployment money. I made my wife quit her jobs 2 months ago because they cut down her schedule at work, and she did get unemployment benefit. I'm pretty sure they will give it to you because they didn't fired you of a good reason. Here are the qualifications that i get from my state's (texas) website:
You must be unemployed or partially unemployed through no fault of your own to receive benefits. You should be prepared to present evidence that you tried to correct the problem before you quit.
Examples of qualifying reasons are:
You were laid off due to lack of work.
You are still working but the employer reduced your hours. (Your reduction in hours must not be the result of a disciplinary action.)
You were fired without work-related misconduct. Examples of misconduct are a violation of company policy; violation of law; neglect or mismanagement of your position; or failure to perform your work acceptably if you are capable of doing so.
You quit your job for a good well-documented work-related or medical reason. TWC may rule good cause if the work situation would cause a person who truly wants to keep the job to leave it.
Examples of possible good cause are unsafe working conditions or a significant change in hiring agreement, or not receiving payment for your work.
Examples of medical reasons are quitting on your doctor's advice, or quitting to care for a minor child, or quitting to care for a terminally ill spouse if there is no alternative care provider.
You quit to protect yourself from family violence or stalking, evidenced by an active or recently issued protective order, a police record documenting family violence or stalking directed against you, or medical documentation of family violence against you.
Good luck

Yes, he should work but during the time that he's out there looking for a job he could receive unemployment insurance. It's like a benefit. The man is going through a hard time losing his job so he should earn it.
But yes, a lot of people tend to abuse the system like you said.

You are paying those taxes as well, so might as well use the benefit if it happens.

ok good point if he was layed off and is lookin for a job then i think it would be ok, because ive learned getting a job isnt the easiest task!
and god damn taxes, i just got my tiny check today and about 200$ went to taxes. im hardly gonna make rent. that extra money would be such a big help to me.
