Yeah... right. Hahahaha!
Lil Wayne is horrible... listen to some *real* rap, seriously. Unfortunately, not many rappers are real rappers. The real ones are underground, for the most part. Although there are a couple in the mainstream. Real rap is rare.
Lil Wayne will die out eventually, you watch. Someone "better" will come around, and get millions of dollars for his/her bullshit music. These rappers always boom for awhile, and then die out. 50 Cent and Ja Rule are good examples. They both suck, too. Lil Wayne won't be any different. The record industry chooses who is famous and "good." They only hire "rappers" that will make the most sales. In other words, the ones that will appeal the masses. For the most part, mainstream rap is all advertisement for cars and jewelry. And other things, too. Once a famous 'rapper' claims to like something in a song that becomes really popular, every follower seems to like it too.
I hate these fake rappers like Lil Wayne. Give me a break... you actually think this is rap? This "music" genre is called Bullshit, not rap. Listen to some real rap; rap that does not foster ignorance, like most of mainstream rap does. Some artists include: Nas, Biggie, Tupac, Gang Starr, Wu Tang Clan. They can actually rap, believe it or not. All these mainstream rappers glorify the concept of being a gangster. But you'll see that real rappers actually speak the truth. Being a gangster isn't about fuckin' having an Escalade, and have a mansion, and wearing bling bling while 10 hos are sucking your dick, and boasting about doing things that you don't do (shooting someone, for instance - most of these ignorant fake rappers seem to boast and talk shit with nothing to back it up but yappin' their jaws). Give me a break.
Oh, and for all you who think Lil Wayne can freestyle... all I can do is feel sorry for you. I weep for all of you who have been deceived into thinking this guy is good!

"50 Cent and Ja Rule are good examples."
Wow you are completely ignorant and unaware of the subject you speak of. The thing that separates lil wayne from the "common" rapper is the fact he can make albums. He has made 7 albums and still is VERY HIGHLY ANTICIPATED. The "common" rapper gets stuck on his second or third album like G unit, eminem, young joc, etc. . Evey one is waiting for his next album desperate do download any fake leak.

My point was, he is no better than them. He speaks bullshit, not truth. But I guess if all you want to hear is lame lyrics that don't have any substance, and let alone the fact that some of his songs make absolutely no sense. But ah, that's ok... I guess nobody even knows what real rap is nowadays. Everyone who doesn't know what real rap is, is waiting for his next album, desperate to download any fake leak. Very highly anticipated, by hype. I find it funny how you bring up Eminem into the picture of "rappers who get stuck on their second or third album," when the last time I checked, Eminem has released 6 albums, over the course of 9 years, I think.
You can certainly tell that Lil Wayne has never put too much work into his raps.
Although this has nothing to do with how much of a phony he is, I really think his voice is annoying.
LOL, just listened to those songs you posted on here. Horrible! This is not rap. Simply horrible rap. Go ahead and like it, I don't care. I just miss real rap. Nobody knows anything about real rap anymore!
If anyone wants to hear some real good old school rap, listen to Gang Starr. Great beats, and Guru would kill this Lil Wayne punk in a rap battle. No contest. Lil Wayne wouldn't even accept a challenge, because he knows he sucks at freestyle! I've seen his freestyles, they're horrible. Lil Wayne is a goofball, and he is not a good rapper by any means. The record industry will keep him famous until they decide to let him go (in otherwords, once they find someone who can make *them* more money - they don't care about skill, only the bottom-line. If they can make more money with someone else, even if that other person is less skilled, they'll do it), or he decides to go.

Those artists were terrible? Apparently you don't know what real rap is. Sorry, you're wrong! Instead of saying they are terrible, you can just say "I don't like them." That would be more accurate, because The Coup and Gang Starr have 100x more skill than Lil Wayne.
And no, they don't sing about hos, cars, and thugs. Did you even listen to them?
Yes, I am comparing two different times, and there is a point. I'm showing you the difference between Lil Wayne and REAL rap. Real rap is gone, at least for now. I'm showing the difference between lame fucktards like Lil Wayne and real rappers.
Yes, Nas is very good. Yes, Tupac was great. But do you honestly think they are *the* best? Get a grip, man. Apparently you've never heard anything in the underground. Do you honestly think that Lil Wayne is the best rapper making albums right now? I can guarantee you're wrong on that one. I think you might want to change that, and say "Lil Wayne is the most popular rapper making albums right now." And no, popularity does not necessarily equate to skill. Real rap/hip-hop is underground now, and I'm hoping someday you people will wake up and listen to it, instead of feeding these money hungry losers like Lil Wayne who have no passion in rapping.
I am still in shock that you'd say Gang Starr and The Coup are terrible artists. Maybe you're trolling. I bet you'd also say that Wu Tang are bad too.
Lil Wayne's scratchy little voice... I can't listen to him for 30 seconds without getting a headache. Not only because his voice is annoying, but because his rapping sucks.

He will eventually not be popular, and replaced by someone else. As for him making music since he was 11 and being signed at 13... he sure isn't very good for doing it for so long. But that might be because the record industry tells artists what to do regarding their music.

so if the recording industry
tells artists what to do regarding their music.
then y is it that wayne sucks and not everyone else? if the industry is giving EVERYONE music.. y is his bad. and y does he not put much into his raps. this line contradicts almost every argument that has been made. maybe you should take you own advice and say that you don't like them and not they suck. i am not disagreeing with you about other artists, but i think that wayne is amazing also.

of course he won't be popular EVENTUALLY, maybe in like 5-10 years when he stops rapping for some reason...
man wayne's shit is so much more bad ass then those artists, his metaphors and punchlines are way sicker than theirs ALL DAY LONG,
and who are you to say what "real rap" is dude?:wtf:

Most mainstream rappers do suck, but there is a small percentage that are mainstream that do not, such as Nas. It does not contradict almost every argument that has been made. I do take my own advice, but it is very clear that Lil Wayne does not have much skill. There's a difference. When someone says that a skilled artist sucks, then it's obvious that they either do not know what real skill is, or that they are exaggerating by saying they "suck." However, the truth is that they just do not like them. I do not like Lil Wayne, because his skill is way overrated, and his lyrics are poor. Artists like him are basically sell-outs.
of course he won't be popular EVENTUALLY, maybe in like 5-10 years when he stops rapping for some reason...
MAYBE. If he isn't still popular, however, then obviously he wasn't very good. You can see that Biggie and Tupac have never died down, even after they are dead. I highly doubt Lil Wayne will remain a legend like that in the rap scene.
man wayne's shit is so much more bad ass then those artists, his metaphors and punchlines are way sicker than theirs ALL DAY LONG,
Then post some of Lil Wayne's "so much more bad ass" lyrics, that show how bad ass his metaphors and "punchlines" are.
and who are you to say what "real rap" is dude?
That question is put there to imply that I cannot say that Lil Wayne is not real rap, because I cannot say what "real rap" is, right? I have one statement for you:
Real rap involves skill, and Lil Wayne does not have that.
come on now, weezy's flow is nasty like C Y Phillis
Guru and/or Boots Riley could kill his lame flow with ease. You seriously think his flow is "nasty"? Maybe nasty in the sense that it sucks. LOL
LOL, here's a little snippet of a verse that Lil Wayne "raps." Gosh, you know what, I think you've been right this whole time... look at these amazing metaphors and punchlines. I'm amazed:
[Wayne]
Wha
I'ma flosser baby, baller baby
A fifteen year old shot caller baby
And I'm racin through
In the all black chrome
A Mercedes Coupe
Got yo' wife at my house
And she naked too
And all my *****s all around
Sayin 'Shake it Boo, go ahead to what you do'
It's Weezy dog and off the heezy dog
And I'm surrounded by the ice
It got me freezin' dog
And it's plain and simple
Won't change 'cause it's natural
Lil' Wayne a pimp y'all
Got the game from Beatris
I'm tryin to see six numbers
Pull up at the Grammy awards in six Hummers
Leave the Grammy awards with six womens
And make a stop at the gas station for six rubbers
Put it together
This is the life when you get full of the cheddar
Don't try to end it or you would'nt get better, what
Oh, wait, here's another one. "How You Like Me Now"
Got the hog on 2-6
Press a button watch the mothafuka do tricks
I dont know what you on but im on some new shit
While your bitch is on my dick like a gluestick
I got a grill i dont got to get my tooth fixed
The tooth fairy would retire if i lose it
Straight out the clip thats how i spit like an oozy
You cant find me cuz im lost in the music
Im running this and i can jump the hurdles
Im feelin like im racin a bunch of little turtles
Keep a bandanna like the ninja turtles
Im like a turtle wen i sip the purple
[chorus]
[verse 2]
Buck 60 on the dash imma do two
Captain crunch these *****s is fruitloops
Thats why ur girl wanna fuk me and my group too
And imma make her back it up like shoo shoo
Im the birdman junior i gotta do coupes
I hop out that mothafuka holla soowoop
Hollygrove 17 im from the zoocrew
You wuld think every animal in the zoo loose
Fuk wit me im on that screw juice
But i keep my shit together not a screw loose
Word to my goosh boots
Im higher then a new suit cuz we smoke that kush
[chorus]
[verse 3]
Buck 40 on a ring that i dont really wear
But i bet it light up the night like the city fair
This shit aint fair i didnt have to go there
But all this ice got me feelin like a polar bear
Im so aware im so prepared
Im so fly ill take off into the open air
Lift off cristal please crackers with cheese
***** please we on j-e-t's
Like Curtis martin in white and green
Im lightin lightin light the thing
Light the thing no reggie man
U know i smoke that kush
Oh, the metaphors.... the metaphors! I'm overwhelmed with the realization of Lil Wayne's lyrical skill! Metaphors, punchlines (because he's so funny, you know), rhymes. Lil Wayne is a master. He can put down a four letter word and make it rhyme with another four letter word. Like in this other song, he makes "fool" rhyme with "cool." Man, he's good!
lol, how can you say that these lyrics are good? go take a look at Gang Starr's lyrics. 100x better. Let me also say that Gang Starr takes a bit of getting used to, because well, none of you are used to real rap.

Yes, Lil Wayne has freestyled, but not against anybody - he's too much of a pussy to do that, because he knows he can't compete against the real guys.
I noticed all his so-called freestyles seem rehearsed anyway. So I guess you could say that he doesn't actually freestyle :).
I'm glad you bring up Immortal Technique, though. I forgot about him for some reason - he is truly great as well.

I have to agree with those that miss the "good days of rap" of Nas, Wu, Mobb Deep (the real Mobb Deep, B4 they got w/50), Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, Redman, OGC, Smif-N-Wesson, Outkast, I could go on.......
"They say I'm like a young Raekwon, a chef in Hell's Kitchen"-Lil' Wayne
I say, I'd like to know WHO exactly told him that, so I could smack them, lol.
I do not care for much "southern" rap. Most of it is BS, and almost all of the rest is "stripper" music. There are exceptions, like Outkast, but few and far between.
I still listen to many "old" CD's, and get something when someone I recognize comes out, Nas's "Hip Hop is Dead", Jay-Z's "Kingdom Come", still waiting/anticipating Raekwon's "CL2". There are also a few new artists that have emerged that may have relevant things to say, like Kanye. Unfortunately, it's just not like it was then, and I don't know if it will ever be the same again.

I dont think hes the best rapper alive but cant put him down for claiming it. He is sick. Being sick doesnt mean your lyrics are sick(packed with long worded metaphors) its delivery 2. hes not to be compared to legends but still one of the better rappers or should I say the songs he puts out are as entertaining as other top songs right now.

Lil Wayne is the greatest rapper to the dumbest people.. nuff said really. The 'real rap/hiphop' flys over their head or under their radar because their simple minds can't process the lyrics, so they listen to Lil Wayne exaggerate his simple clever but pointless lyrics on a nice beat. Hell even ANY Papoose song contains more crazy metaphors than all of Wayne's craziest put together. And Wayne has no 'thug' in him whatsoever, apparently he was rapping at 11 and signed at 13.. tell me where he went through most of lifes struggles before he even reached PUBERTY. It's simple, he hasn't, he disses Gillie in a song/video while wearing Gillie's own chain that he let Wayne borrow (proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHffFMmwndU)) hahahahha, you blind suckers.

mfgr hah, you really need to brush up on your "knowledge" of the entertainment business. Yes, it's all about money, but no it's not that simple. Rappers like wayne have to work their asses off and i mean hard. There are millions of people gunning to be the top dog and how did lil wayne get there? Nope not by his voice, yes it helped, but he worked his ass off dude. Fucking dedicated his life to this since he was 12 years old. I think he deserves to be where he is with people praising him. And it's not about the lyrics in the business, you're right - well not _only_ it's everything dude.
I can back all this shit up because my bro is pretty big and most everyone here would know who he was but im not gunna drop names. But he deffinitly had to work his ass off. Day and night living breathing eating this shit. Dealing with people telling him he wouldnt do shit, dropping out of highschool. Following people's every command but still trying to do his own thing to make it. It's not easy shit.
All I'm saying man is this music isn't garbage. It's a source of _entertainment_ and it can be motivational, but not in a fucking sit down and think like a white person way. It might sound twisted, and of course you can argue that the black community as a whole should think a little deeper, but it is what it is.
Just please stop spitting random shit out of your ass if you havent experienced their thoughts first hand.

Top songs? LOL. Too bad most "top songs" suck, too. Mainstream is controlled by the record industry. The record industry's first concern is the bottom line. As long as it sells, it doesn't matter if it's good or not.
Lil Wayne sucks. Period. Can't be compared with legends? Well, duh... most can't be. Lil Wayne isn't sick. Like you said, it isn't JUST lyrics, but it's delivery, too. That means both. If your lyrics are good, and your flow is good... then you're good. If not, then you suck. Lil Wayne lacks on both. I think you're just brainwashed into thinking that kind of music is good. Simply put, it's music for dumbasses.
mfgr hah, you really need to brush up on your "knowledge" of the entertainment business. Yes, it's all about money, but no it's not that simple. I never claimed to know any specifics about the record industry. But it's a business... and what is the first concern of a business? Well, I don't think I even need to answer that, as I'm sure we both know. I never said it was simple, or that rappers don't have to work hard. Anyone can work hard and make it. You don't have to be real good to make it. Afterall, 50 Cent sucks (and no, that's no opinion - it's a fact, and yes I mean that)... but he made it up there. Of course it's not about lyrics. Don't you see that as long as something sells, they'll sell it? They sell it and advertise it to generate mass appeal, it's simple marketing. Lil Wayne's lyrics suck! I can't believe anyone would say they're not simple-minded lyrics that any fool can write.

Good for your bro, but not all record companies are the same. I'd like you to back it up, since you say you can. Anyone can work hard, but that doesn't mean that Lil Wayne is good... lol.
All I'm saying man is this music isn't garbage. It's a source of _entertainment_ and it can be motivational, but not in a fucking sit down and think like a white person way. It might sound twisted, and of course you can argue that the black community as a whole should think a little deeper, but it is what it is.
The music IS garbage. Take a look at what Lil Wayne is saying... I think it's pretty obvious what is happening there. Not in a fucking sit down and think like a white person way? Well, how does a white person think? And no, I don't think the black community as a whole should think a little deeper - what, do you think I'm racist or something? I don't think black people don't think deep. In fact, I know they do. But does Lil Wayne have deep lyrics? No. What he raps about is bullshit. It turns people into brainwashed customers, and it is garbage. It's a source of entertainment that dumbs people down when they take it to heart and get motivated from it. Do you really think the record industry as a whole gives a shit if their musicians are making good music, as long as it sells good? Of course not. I'm talking about the basic concept of business here. Lil Wayne's rap is ridiculously stupid, and his lyrics often make absolutely no sense.
Just please stop spitting random shit out of your ass if you havent experienced their thoughts first hand.
-fth
Well, I think I have experienced Lil Wayne's thoughts first hand, by listening to his ridiculous "music". Money this, money that... bitches this, bitches that... mercedes this, cadillac that... isn't his record company even called Money Records? ROFL. Such materialistic, brainwashing bullshit. A lot of it seems like it's advertisement in itself. The videos show these hot cars, and then everyone wants one.
Yeah man, let's listen to Lil Wayne and get motivated! LOL, what a joke.
youre a complete idiot telling somebody theyre wrong. its opinion, therre is no right or wrong so go jock on some other post
No, opinion is about liking/disliking. I dislike Lil Wayne, which is my opinion. Others like him, which is their opinion. However, when it comes to whether he is good or bad, or in between, it doesn't always need to be opinion. If you want to argue this, reply, and I'll reply with a simple answer that will change you perception on this matter.

Would you quit with this retarded music industry shit? Weezy is the president of Cash Money Records, and CEO of Young Money Entertainment, both of which he releases albums under. None of his mixtapes are released under major labels either, and if you havent listened to the mixtapes, you havent listened to Lil Wayne.
And seriously, you sound just like all the rednecks at a Slayer show saying "No band will ever stack up to Slayer and Metallica, shit yea!" or my grand dad saying "I dont need computers, I have my trusty pen and paper"

I have listened to A LOT of Lil Wayne, to see if people here are right about him having skill. Too bad that's wrong - he lacks skill to a high degree. That one dude posted links to some videos, "Lil Wayne vs. Alive Rappers." Come on now, ROFL! After watching those, how can you still think he's good? It shows just how petty his flow and lyrics/rhymes are. How can someone who can pretty much only rhyme with at most four and five letter words about bitches, money, and cars, be the best rapper alive? In most of his shit, his flow is pathetic. I've heard like one song of his where his flow was okay at best... and I'm sure he got lucky, or just wrote over-simplified lyrics to make them easier to say (er... i mean rap, since Lil Wayne is the best rapper alive :S2:).
By the way, I love rap. So no, I don't sound like a redneck at a Slayer/Metallica concert, claiming no band will ever stack up to them. And nor is what I say equivalent to what you're grand dad says. That's implying that hip hop/rap has evolved... which it hasn't. I fail to understand how anybody can call him the best rapper. Probably because Weezy says it himself. It's a big statement, and Lil Wayne certaintly does not hold up to it by any means whatsoever. He's probably convinced he is the best rapper alive, too. He's a joke :S2:. I feel sorry for people who like him a lot, and talk down on real skillful rap in defense of him.
If he's someone's favorite rapper, which is true for a lot of people, then that's different; however, that's just opinion, and everyone is obviously entitled to that. But when you go and repeat what he said, that he is the best rapper alive, you're really pushin' the line wayyyy too far. People saying he's skillful is pushing the line quite a bit already.
HOWEVER, I would listen to Lil Wayne over Soulja Boy or some insanely retarded shit like that.

I think that's the point most people are trying to make with you... He may not be the greatest rapper ever, or the greatest rapper out now, but he's much better that these losers that call themselves rappers like soulja boy who dont even rap and are bringing the mainstream rap industry down. Listen to crank that, the whole song is basically a hook that is slightly altered to make verses, and it makes no sense. I don't care if people like him. My point is that it's ridiculous to say that he is the best rapper - and a lot of people think that. Everybody has their likes and dislikes. But like I said, I think it's ridiculous to say he's the best rapper alive, when he's clearly not even close. And yes, I know that there are people like Soulja Boy who are even worse than Lil Wayne.

The problem with that statement is that most rappers are better than Lil Wayne, lyrically and flow-wise.
Once you get into the real hip-hop, you never go back. 5-6 years ago I probably would have liked Lil Wayne. Honestly, I'd rather listen to 50 Cent's pathetic raps than Lil Wayne's. At least he makes some sense :)

FIRST OFF... Weezy F. Baby is the best rapper ALIVE... he talks about real shit whether you can relate to it or not. SECOND Lil Wayne is a fucking lyricist from hell and since i have almost every mixtape he's ever been on (won the 2007 mixtape artist of the year btw) and his original albums (the carter I & II) i'm not your average saw him on "suckerfree" fan. One thing i must point out that you apparently don't know is that he has worked his way to the top as an "Independent" artist on his OWN record label Cash Money Records! Which means that the big time record industry is not at all in control of his fame. I would also like to point out that even as good as he is he is not selfish with his talent, he has made hit songs by collaborating with other artists on their songs for years.

I'm not speaking of style. I'm speaking about lyrics and flow. Oh, but you'll probably say that Lil Wayne's lyrics are part of the style. Too bad Lil Wayne's lyrics make almost no sense... therefore I think it's safe to say that it has nothing to do with style, and more to do with how much skill he lacks. And the skill that I say he lacks is not opinion, it's fact. If he is seriously "the best rapper alive" like many people say, then why doesn't he put out some rhymes that are above rhymes that a 5th grade could write? Come on, seriously... he's horrible. And for the record, it's not hip hop. You saying that it is hip hop just shows your ignorance about what hip hop actually is.

Being really high doesn't give him an excuse for babbling about nothing and being as abstract as possible, which is what most of his lyrics consist of. If not, then it's a mildly clever rhetoric relating to either weed, cars, jewelry, or women. Yeah he sure is deeeep.
People don't want to pay money to listen to a skinny, spoiled, stoned kid rapping in circles. At least I don't. He had it made back when he was like 16 and even then his voice made me shudder. "All deez carrots like I'm a fuckin vegitarian..." eee gaaads man.
Bottom line: he has some catchy hooks, yes, but hey who doesn't have at least one. The only way he'll be remembered beyond the year 2010 is by either his uniquely annoying voice or "that one kid with Cash Money way back when." Other than that, he's a dime-a-dozen rapper as far as I'm concerned. The only difference is he has the money to get his name out there, so on and so forth.

Honestly mfgr...who are you to say who has skill in the rap business or not lol You on here postin shit like your Diddy or somethin and you tryin to make the Band. Until your a multi-million dollar producer I don't think you can determine who has skill. You can have an OPINION on who you like as far as rappers go, but you can't just say wayne is gonna die out cuz you know he's not. And the Biggie and Tupac thing you said is true, they are still big icons in the game despite their deaths. However, it's like Jay-Z said, "They never really miss you till you dead or you gone". And thats not taking anything away from Pac and Biggie they're still two of the greatest rappers of all time. But alot of their fame was gained because of their death. Give Wayne some credit

Yeah... right.
Doesn't mean hes not good at what he does.

WoW your really naive about rap you must have a circle of rappers that you only listen to and prolly only heard lil wayne radio raps. Me out of all people hate mainstream rappers but have listened deeply to all of them at one point, I probably listened to most of the underground and the artists you named are even underground, Tupac was real of course, Biggie was real nas is real but they basically rap about the same struggles. Thats koo but Lil Wayne ties it in all together, hes hit every subject you can think of. What you dont get about lil wayne is he raps like its a sport and has mastered rapping as a skill. When you said Lil wayne is jsut one of these rappers that bloom for awhile you just proved to be stupid. Because Lil wayne has bin in the game for almost 15 years and to tell you the truth his old shit is prolly better.Go listen to his best of me freestyle and tell me he hasnt mastered the art of rapping
