I really have never talked on here about what kind of work that I do..
I own my own business..cleaning and organizing homes, garages, yards and businesses..I have had people work for me in the past..but now it is pretty much me and if I need certain things done, I have friends that I pay to come and do those things.
I run into all kinds of crazy stuff in my line of work..My customers are almost always women..that somehow their house got out of control or it has always been that way and they need me to come in and get it back in order..usually they just leave it up to me on what I get rid of...I love my job and it is very satisfying..I free up these peoples lives..let them be free again from the burden of clutter...they even tell me "I cant stop thinking about it"..and that is what I do...I give them peace of mind that it is done and they never have to think about it again..well, at least for awhile..
Ok. here is one of the jobs I am doing...84 yo lady..has been living in this house for 50 years...I got my work cut out for me..I did the bedroom yesterday and it took 7 hours.. it looks really nice.

Yeah, I come across all kinds of stuff..you name it..I really should save more stuff..but I dont..I just like to get it done and be done with it. Plus, my dad likes making trips with me to the dump. LOL..but your right I should be more aware of certain items.
Did you do that hike this weekend?

Don't get me started on the failure of our so-called 'modern' society to take care of its elders. Where the hell are her grandchildren in all this? Shouldn't they have offered to lend her a hand long ago?

They were there when I left..her granddaughter and her husband..both extrememly overweight..sleeping on the couch.

Do you drug-test your friends that help you? J/K! :-)
Wow! That's a pretty big mess! I've seen places like that myself, and usually the person is incapable of cleaning/organizing due to mental or physical disabilities.
Stinkyattic: you're right, family should intervene before it gets that bad. Not everyone has close family, though. I know I'd never let my parents or grandparents get that bad. It's really sad how some people have no one to watch out for them.

Do you know this person?
Who is it hurting?
Do you even know what state I am in?
Plus, I asked permission to take the pictures.
I pretty much take the beginning and end pictures everytime.

No drug test for weed. LOL
But that is usually what it..either mental or physical disabilities which makes them unable to pick up after themselves.

That probably helps when talking to prospective clients, you can show them before/after pictures so they know the kind of work you do.

I don't see any vintage porn.
Stuff from the 30's would be worth some money.
And, crickets. Did you find any?

I need you, Geonagual. I have a junk room that's not as bad as that lady's house, but it's not good. I haven't got the mind that can organize it. It's my junk, though, so it's my responsibility. This gives me hope that there might be someone like you in this area who could come help. I think I'm going to be like that elderly lady when I'm old. I'm not a packrat, but I'm not naturally organized.

Wow Geo, too bad we are in different states, we could team up, I have entirely too much experience with packrats (myself included unfortunately) and I have a booth in an antique mall where we could make a killling! thinking of all the things you have probably tossed hurts my soul. But that is a wonderful and much needed service you provide.

Wow, thats kewl Geo! This summer I did a job sort of like what you do, and I am thinking of makin a small business out of it eventually? This summer I was helpin a friend of my x-wifes move(she paid me to help), I wasn't aware of the state of the place she was movin out of was like. The first thing I noticed when i arrived was the intense smell of cat urine. She had a cat and never cleaned the litter box(I know this cause I saw all 3 litter boxes, full of cat shit, and piss), and the couch was covered in piss, and shit, it was so nasty! There was clutter everywhere, in the kitchen the fridge was full of rotting food, and there was a pack of rotten hamburger meet on the kitchen counter. It was disgustin, so after me and another guy Moved her, she hardly had anything packed. So after the move she was just going to leave the mess behind, i told her thats wrong and you can't leave that foir your landlords, so i said I would clean it, if she paid me, I did it for about 300 dollars, and it took the better of a week to clean it all up( on one day off of work, and after work in the evenings), I smoked a lot of weed those days, I hauled out 12 garbage bags full of Garbage, salvaged a about 12 boxes full of her stuff, that she just wanted left behind. And then I took a box home of stuff that she was just going to throw out. It took her like 2 months to pay me..it was an awful job, but in away I rteally enjoyed it, cause I knerw the landlords apreciuated it very much! :) The bathroom was so disgustin (had 2 litter boxes in it full of piss and shit) it smelt so bad in that place the first day of cleanin i was usin a drywall dust mask to block out the smell..I'm thinking of starting up my own business of the sort, cleanin up after Tennants move, either for the landlord, or the tennant. Might start up again soon! :)

i believe that it really isn't that uncommon for older people who live alone to let their houses go to shit, i had to clean out my grandma's house a while back and it was pretty much a hallway system through all the rooms, it was insane. Ya good luck with that
