i have heard of the tobacco spray before but would be concerned about leaving a taste on the buds- if not in flower try a pyrenthian insecticide- the stuff is made from flowers -organic-or try neem oil- i have had an abundance of pest problems myself this year-good luck

I'd worry about tobacco spray for the risk of TMV.
Hot pepper or neem oil spray (use only in veg or early flower, up to week 3) will leave a very distasteful residue on the leaves. You can get both at any good garden shop.
Caterpillars though are easy to hand-pick... Why not just remove them manually?
