I got this nice glass piece about a good 2-3 months ago and the paint has begun to peel on the inside of it. I thought the colours were inside the actual glass itself, whats going on?
First pic is before paint was peeling, second and third are after.

Sounds like a cheaply made pipe to me.

Its where there is no colour, the entire pipe is s'pose to be a emerald/olive green colour with orange stripes, almost half of it now is clear.
I'm sorry, thats GHASTLY.
Can't you return it?

yea, it's probably faulty or just cheaply made.
if you payed more than $25 for it, go get your money back. if you payed like $20 or less, you're just going to have to deal with it or buy a new one. you could always sell it for a little cash to a friend that doesn't mind/desperate for pipe. :stoned:

For the record I payed $23.50, and I doubt they'd take it back if they knew the "purposes" I've been using it for.
I sort of noticed it was cheaply made when I got it, the paint was wet and leaking all over the place it looked like before it got to me, I've been thinking about peelin all the colour off for a clear pipe and take it from there, anyone know how to get it?
P.S It's not even a "paint" job, its essentially this thin layer of green plastic....

Why i said it was cheaply made is cause good blow pipes are not painted. When you buy a blown pipe all the designe you see is not really paint it is also glass. You can get good cheap blown pipes, just not when they are painted.

Ahhh, I'll look into that, but in the meantime, any suggestions on how to remove the paintjob? I'd rather have it clear then the current style.

you know the salt an iso method of cleaning a pipe? id tend to think THAT would do it!
the main idea is that you pour some isopropyl alcohol into the pipe, and then saturate it with salt, and shake. alcohol acts liek a solvent, salt acts like those "scientifically modified microscrubbers!" in your toothpaste(which by the way is called talc, the same shit baby powder is made out of).

Where would one get isopropyl, and are you sure this method would work on this particular type of paint-job? Its almost like a thin layer of plastic coated over glass, a piece of shit, but the pipe works.
Kroger. 75 cents a bottle. Epsom salt is a dollar I think.
Dude, they know what "purposes" it's being used for. Who smokes tobacco out of a PIPE?
Edit: When I was in Israel this dude was hitting tobacco out of a homemade bong. So nevermind.

I had this same thing happen to me. I bought a pipe from a friend that had been used before, and the shaft was blue. When I cleaned it out a few months later, the paint/resin started to peel off. I just used some 90% isopropyl alcohol to soak it for about an hour, and then I was good to go.

I just use regular table salt and rubing alochol it works just as good.
How competely shit. I'd tear the shop up if they ripped me off like that, no matter what the price.

What a crappy pipe. I didn't know they'd actually paint the glass. I have bought and still own cheap $10 glass spoons, and they don't have paint.
Find a new headshop...ditch that glass, and buy some good glass from a good store/company.

Yea, it does blow, I think I'll try that rubbing alcohol salt method soon though, I guess I should be thankful that it isn't broke, my only complaint that REALLY bothers me is the size of the bowl, I can pack MAYBE .3 or .4 in it, not to mention if I pack that much in it, it usually means I'm compressing it and plugging up the hole, next time I buy a piece, I'm going with a friend of mine whos a pro.

That and its a little-to top heavy and the bowl heats up pretty quickly..

Even so, technically it's still supposed to be used for tobacco so if they see that it's being used for herb they can tell you to fuck off. Although, if you clean it before you take it in, it shouldn't be a problem. They can't prove it.
But I would definitely not do business at that shop anymore, find somewhere else to go.
