So this wasn't the first time this has happened to me when sleeping. Its actually quite freaky.
So I'm sleeping, taking a nap, its been a LONG yesterday so I'm a bit beat. I'm napping I have pleasant dreams and all of a sudden I'm awake my MIND is awake, I can see whats in front of me but kind of double vision, I feel like my eyes are still in REM but At this point my body is STILL asleep. I'm very aware of what I'm looking at but I'm willing my body to wake up but it won't wake up and its gets scary because I WANT my body to move but it won't because my mind is still asleep.
i even told myself to slap myself awake took all my will but still my hands wouldnt move.
There was this other incident where I have been sleeping dreaming even that at random points of the dream the thing thats right in front of me, if i were to open my eyes the alarm clock and my lamp, would flash at random points in the dream. At one point I'd still be dream and at the same time I'm seeing the alarm clock and the lamp because my eyes are open so still dreaming all i was seeing in the dream was the alarm clock and lamp so I felt blind the entire dream! So basically the dream is still occurring but all i'm seeing is a lamp and alarm clock.
What is this? Its actually really scary, does anyone else know what it is? :S. I think its called Sleep Paralysis can anyone confirm that?
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I believe its called lucid dreaming, Ive never experienced it, but I know there are quite a few people on this site who are really interested in it, and could prolly give you more than just the name.. lol

Yeah i believe its lucid dreaming i have done quiet a bit of research on it, and i have taken various drugs i am not allowed to mention that will induce very lucid dreams, which can sometimes be very scary, if i were going to give you any advice i would say try to deal with it yourself, if you go to the hospital the doc is going to send you straight to a shrink and you won't get any meds, and i dont think shirnks do anything to help anyone but thats just my opinion

i used to have these crazy dream type things where the same thing would happen to me. only i would feel like my body turning over but i wasnt moving it. and i couldn't say anything or move so i would try to scream and i would normally wake up to myself trying to scream. i think it was just a dream though

Sleep Paralysis is fucked up. It sounds like that what you were having, its happened to me a couple times but not in a while.
Last time i got sleep paralysis i was lying in my bed staring at the wall and i started to get a bright light moving closer to me, kinda like a train in the distance then when it got to the edge of the wall a hand came out. at this point i was breathing very hard and trying to move my eyes but i couldnt. I remembered my friend saying that if i ever got shadow lock (sleep paralysis) to just try to scream as hard as you can and eventually youll snap out of it. so i tried that and right before i came out of it i got a bright flash of light. It was so surreal.
I was talking to my girl about it and she said that used to happen to her when she was younger and she would see snakes comming in her room. Sleep paralysis is so fucked up, especially when its accompanied by hallucinations.

OMG FINALLY! I have this stuff and i never knew what it was called lol. I tried to explain it to my friends, its truly scary as hell to be laying there and not being able to move, and hallucinating not being able to react with your body is a pain too. I have this happen at least every other night and have no idea what it was called, and i also get it before falling asleep, thanks so much for finding this...you dont even know
Edit: The most scary thing i have had happen is either hearing an evil laugh (You know, the Muwhahaha) with my eyes open just laying there, and when i was laying there and it looked like there was a bunch of little ghosts beating the crap out of me (and it really hurt )

One time I when I was living with my parents I thought I woke up and my step dad was just standing there silent and staring at me, and it was scary and I tried to say "what do you want?" and nothing came out and I kept trying to say something and I was getting so freaked out and then I tried to scream so hard and I couldn't scream and then I finally woke up and he wasn't there.
It was freaky

Yes... its the sleep paralysis... i have it sometimes, speacially when im sleeping more than my body needs (i love to sleep)... and really its very scary... mainly when you feel like a "presence" near you... i never heard any laughters, only "felt" that there was "something" in my room... something that scared me... and i coulndt move... i only could wish to awake... then, when i awoke i was shivering, so scared i went... then, awake, i realized that there was nothing (visible) in the room... weird...

damn beat me to it.... i knew that one.... ti's happened to me more than once, and it is actually pretty damn scary.... atleast to me....
i'd be careful about surgeries.... i've read somewhere that those who expereience this on their own have higher chances of actually being awake and feeling durring an operation... but just can't signal or do anything (it's a scary thought isn't it? and it does happen, more often then you'd think... someone goes in for surgery, everything says to the doctors they're out, but really they're conscience and just can't do anything but wait it out) also red heads/people with freckles are more likely candidates as well....

it's called ...anesthesia awareness
Anesthesia awareness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anesthesia_awareness)
Doctors urged to prevent waking during surgery - More Health News - MSNBC.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6192903/)
An estimated 20,000 to 40,000 patients wake up during general anesthesia each year and about one-quarter of them report feeling pain
Sleep paralysis is a condition characterized by temporary paralysis of the body shortly after waking up (known as hypnopompic paralysis) or, less often, shortly before falling asleep (known as hypnagogic paralysis).[1]
Ive experienced this before falling asleep several times.
My eyes would close as if i went to sleep but i wasnt, i would try to open my eyes but they wouldnt they would just flutter
i really hope it doesnt have anything to do with an evil entity that would suck.

Yes, it is sleep paralysis and it used to happen to me a lot- very scary! Try sleeping on your side; for some reason sleeping on your back seems to bring it on. It works- I haven't had another incident since switching.

I have had this, when they took out my wisdom teeth I wok up to the dentist top of my craking and pressing down on my like he was trying to split my head in 2. then they noticed my eyes were wide open, and they freaked out and stoped, they up the dosage and and that was all I remember, they said my eyes woulndt close after that and they were frekin out about it, casue the dentist still had to do 3 other teeth and was still breaking on out. I just thought it was funny cause I remember trying to tell the dude keep going I thought it was insane how I could hear him breaking what sounded like my head and I could feel all his weight on my head casue he was crakin the tooth, but I felt no pain, haha I liked it, but I am one sik fuker. I remeber him whacking me with a hammer too???

Sleep paralysis has only happened to me a couple of times, and that was before i knew what it was which freaked me the fuck out. One time i was dreaming that i was in a swimming pool and that i was drowning and then i sort of woke up but couldn't move any part of my body except my eyes and i was panicking like crazy. Eventually after a couple minutes i was able to break the paralysis and wake myself up but damn that was scary.

Happened to me a few times, scared the fuckin shit out of me cause there were hallucinations accompanied with it usually when it happened... One time it felt like a bunch of people were pacing around my room just beyond my sight, breathing and mumbling... I couldnt move I thought someone had broken in and had me bound and ready to kill me. When I regained control and woke up fully I sat there for like 15 minutes in a cold sweat shaking.

this happens to me all the time
sometimes i have to focus on breathing because it seems like IF I DONT ...BREATHE... i wont breathe
i have half awake dreams like this where i feel like im looking around my room and can see everything and THINK im waking up and slapping my own face and rubbing my hair and waking up then it shifts to my eyes really opening and being truly conscious.
i have no clue what this is....i dont even smoke weed anymore...but i do drink.
