Hello,

I came across a post the other day where a new member posted a bit of personal information about himself. The kind of info that you would not left out for others to see.

I posted in the thread for the original poster to contact the admin to have the post removed, since the poster only has limited control over editing their posts.

I am not sure if the member ever contacted the admin or not, however I did. It has been since the 24th and the PM that I sent is still unread.

I have not seen a single moderator take action on this case.

We should all look out for one anothers safety, and if the mods/admins. schedules are to hectic to keep up on issues such as this, then I suggest that the editing rule should be changed.

There are times when a member will have the need to edit out certain information, or simply add in new info to an older post.

Once again, I would like to see a positive change concerning this subject.

I encourage other members to share your feelings on this.

Take care.

Peace

Their message in question was deleted shortly after your PM was sent ... I apologize for no acknowledgement of your PM; not all communications/comments are acknowledged for various reasons, such as time constraints.

Editing is purposedly limited to reduce abuse - the boards are not a chat room, but are more akin to a publishing medium.

Editing is not even permitted on some message message boards / blogs such as Slashdot.org, Marihemp Network boards, etc - here folks have upto 5 minutes to make changes - many other message boards have a similar edit time limit policy.

Thank you for your comments :)

Hello,

Thank you for your replies.

Ron - I understand where you are coming from, I just personally wish the user had more control over their posts. What about an extension on editing, say 24 hours?

I don't mean to push the issue.

Take care.

Peace

This would be great!! I'm 100% with you on this The Student, as i have just edited one of my posts on a different board 2 hours after i originally posted it ;)

Ron i can see where your comming from as these boards are not "chat rooms" but still this idea is a very good one in my eyes and no doubt in many otheres to.
