Not really a big time player but still a pretty good team with a storied history, and also the only publicly owned NFL team. They are doing better so far now than they have since the late 90's. The last few years have been rebuilding years after alot of their veterans left the team for various reasons or retired. Also there was a changing of the coaching staff too. They said last year something like 14 packers players were rookies, so its a fairly new team.

Yes, yes I was hating him then. I think that he's just a huge waste of money. Charlie Batch is a much better player in my book. Plus I don't think Ben has the sense that god gave a goose. Hello? He wrecked on a motorcycle and got all banged up last year. How stupid can one person be?

wrong so wrong, ben didnt just leave the pocket, he was being chased by several guys, and did an amazing job of avoiding the rush and making plays down the field. when we cant run the ball( like 2 day) the whole aspect of the game changes and more pressure is put on ben to make the plays himself and have to throw the ball more that he should have to. It also doesnt help when you get multiple stupid penalty's that put you in 3 and 20yds+, and getting another bone head penalty on and punt forcing a newie which gets returned for a td. when we cant run the ball we cant win the game, it has nothing to do with ben. Also the only reason we even had a chance of getting the tying score was because of ben leading us down the field 96 yards in 2:25...

No it doesn't mean you're stupid, but Ben Roethlisberger is stupid because after the accident in which he wasn't wearing a helmet he said he still wouldn't wear a helmet and refused to do a public service announcement regarding motorcycle safety. And no, higher i'm not a philly fan. Ive been a Steelers girl since I was born. I live 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. Though John has got me into the Bills lately. Though the Bills aren't that great of a team I enjoy watching them.

pabloescobar209
10-01-2007, 02:49 AM
But he has so many interceptions! How can you say he doesnt!?

He has 8 tds and 3 ints on the season, he had to throw the ball 32 times today( way to many) and parker only had 19 carries for 37 yards 20 of which came on one run. 11 penalties for 72 yards... thats a recipe for a loss. now look back at the last 3 previous games... ben throws less than 25 times, and parker has about 30 carries for 100+ yards, and we have no penalties. Ben was the only reason we were even in the game, he threw a bomb to holmes on a 3rd and 26 for a touchdown, and drove us 96 yards for another score... and this is without a running game. thats and impressive feat, its pretty damn hard to make those throws when the defense knows its coming.

Just my 2 cents....

Tony Romo is great in the pocket.. he's young, healthy, fast and accurate.. he's tearing it up this year..

i hate to take sides since it's just a game but Ben is a really good QB, sometimes the other team just wants it more.. The Steelers underestimated the cardinals.. the steelers, on paper, own Arizona.. Mike tomlin will DEFINATLY start treating every team with proper preperation. I see the steelers in the playoffs for sure. what these guys mean is that you can't just dog your QB because of one loss. Try losing 7 in a row....the dolphins are a joke but most importantly, Trent Green is washed up..

brett favre and the packers are doing great as well.....

obviously, the colts and pats are up there too.

but it is just the 4th week you all, and the end of the season 1 game means everything. right now, coaches are just starting to make the season gameplan...
it's early...

but the packers, patriots, cowboys, colts and steelers all look great so far.

I live in the Dallas area and I can't believe we won that game, either. It was making me too tense as the time ran down to two and a half minutes. I said, "I can't watch this loss" to my husband and came upstairs to the computer here to get away from the noise. Next thing I hear is yelling--this is all the way at the opposite end of the house--and Dave was bellowing that they'd won. I'm glad. It's nice to be able to still claim undefeated status. But I'm not even a huge football fan and I could see the mistakes the Cowboys made. Any more games like that, and we won't be undefeated for much longer. I hope they shape up before this Sunday.

It is true that they are in a weak division, this year especially, but I wouldn't say that they are overrated. Brady has thrown for over 1,700 yards, 21 TD and 2 picks, the running game has been working big time, even without Maroney, and their D is getting turnovers and providing their offense with a chance to win.

I mean, they have scored 230 points and have only allowed 92!!

it isn't..

and the 07 Pats are the best team in the league.. i don't think they'll go undeafeated or even win the super bowl but i'm real enough to admit they are excecuting better than any team.....period.

my dolphins are going to look stupid this sunday but i'll be there to watch them play..

the division doesn't have anything to do with the teams success. that's why they have non-division match ups like the cowboys and pats.

no win is an easy win..

the bills, jets, and phins do look horrible but in my opinion new england would be 6-0 in any division.

afc south against non division teams= 11-2. quite simply afc south is the best division in football. colts are undefeated and on top of said division. were things done like college in the nfl(and lets thank god they are not) they would be #1, pats would be #2. personally i dont know which team is better, i think people are getting a little too high on the patriots too early and i dont think theyll go undefeated but they are looking great. i am not sold at all on their running game though and i think a fast defense that could keep up with their passing attack and force them to run would be one way to beat them. and the colts have the only offense i think can keep up with them. i think those two, just like manning and brady themselves, are the undisputed top 2 and it is a very steep drop from there. and i think the dolphins will give the pats more than you think. they always play them tough and often times beat them even when the patriots are good and they are bad

The pats will be facing the STEELERS soon enough.....that my friends shall be a showdown. granted im biased as a steeler fan, but i think the blitzburgh steelers have the best chance of ending the pat's undefeated streak.

The Pats just MIGHT, go undefeated. The way they have slaughtered every team they have played has been very impressive

if the pats go undefeated, then they definitly deserve it. sure they suffered somewhat of a letdown to the cowboys, but it is an explosive offense they faced. plus they are just getting rodney harrison and richard seymour back. once they have hit their groom, THEN this team will be playing at their best. now isnt that scary?

personally, i think the pats will beat the skins. it's gonna be closer than most people will predict. but dont act surprised if the skins come out with an upset.

They still have to deal with "My hammy" Stallworth and "Mr. Off the Field antics" Moss. I can't picture either of these dudes making it thought the entire season.

moss hasnt really had any off the the field antics for a long time. i personally think playing for a contender will be just what the doctor ordered and i can see where hes coming from when not trying on teams that arent going to do shit anyway. granted he should since he is getting paid,k but i see where hes coming from. losing stallworth would be a huge blow to the pats to my way of thinking

Lets put an end to the Brady/Patriot questions once and for all. Here are Brady's stats for todays game against the division rival Dolphins, who have owned them recently too.

» 6 TD
» 354 yards
» 21 of 25 passing
» 158.3 QB rating <========= aka. PERFECT :)

I think their 7-0 start still counts even though it is October :) Plus I think they are shooting to be hot all year.

7-0 is great an all don't get me wrong, but the only place they can go from here is down. Plus there a one dimensional team, I know they do run the ball but lets face it without brady they are nothing. Who's bradys backup? who's manning's backup? lucky for both teams neither has had any serious injuries the last few years, but there both due.If either team lost there qb the season goes down the tubes... real fast.

I'd have to say that any team that competes for the Super Bowl every year is in a world of trouble if they loose their starting QB. And that you don't know Brady and Mannings backup is a testament to their high skill level and the teams that they are on.

But I have a hard time agreeing that the Patriots are one dimensional. One dimensional teams don't get off to a record of 7-0 and slaughter every team along the way. One dimensional teams are usually uncovered quickly and other teams exploit their weaknesses. NE's defense, offense, and special teams are all operating at full speed right now. It seems to me that the Pats have what won them three superbowls but with the best passing attack the league as seen in YEARS! They have three receivers with 5 TDs or more, including Moss with 10, two injured but still productive backs in Morris and Maroney, a QB who has statistically already had one of his best seasons, and a defense that gets turnovers and gets the offense back on the field.

The Pats aren't even my team! I'm just in awe at the way they are handling everyone that steps up to them.

Oh, and I doubt they are "due" for injuries. Manning and Brady, like Favre, are machines (Plus you've got to get to them before you can hurt them and Brady has only been sacked 7 times this season )

It is true that some of the teams the Pats have played could be described as soft. But even if/when the Colts and Pats lose a game there is still a good chance they could cruise deep into the playoffs. A 14-2 regular season and a trip to the big dance is nothing to sneeze at

No doubt the AFC championship game will probably be Colts v Patriots and could be tipped one way or the other by who has homefield advantage. The patriots (who I hate!!!) have a very good offence and brady is the best player in the league right now. I think that the offence has made their defense look better than what it is though and when they play pitt or indy people will see some chinks in the armor, though the pats still may win those games. But I'm calling it right here, today and now! The Saints will make it back to the nfc championship game this year! After a horrible start they are stringing togather wins and every week are looking a little better. Carolina plays indy next week would shoud be a loss, If the saints beat the ailing 49'ers then they will be one game out of first place, which is pretty pathetic if you consider they lost their first 4.

The Saints have a LONG way to go before I'd even consider them to be a playoff team. Besides the fact that their second win of the season came against the even worse Falcons, the Panthers and Bucs are still leading the division (And both those teams have already beaten the Saints this season). I'd like to think they'll win a few more games this season with some of the talent they have but I don't think taking the NFC South is going to happen.

They aren't as good as it seems, the only team on there 7-0 run with a winning record was Dallas, everybody else sucks. I mean look at the defenses they have gone against... New york jets ranked 26 in pass defense, San Diego ranked 25 in pass defense, buffalo ranked 31 in pass defense, Bengals ranked 28 in pass defense, Cleveland ranked 29 in pass defense, then Dallas and Miami ranked 14 and 15... Yeah he's throwing record numbers, and record td's but against who??? losers thats who

Very true. But what is funny is that a lot of those teams were quite good last year. The Chargers were the shit, the Jets had a really strong season, the Bengals were looking like Super Bowl contenders, and Dallas was making waves (Let's ignore the Bills, Browns and Miami ). New England will definitely have some bigger challenges as the season rolls on.

last season doesn't mean a thing unless your talking about how the colts haven't lost since last season. All I'm saying is Tom Brady is a good qb with good receivers, so good receivers+good qb+ shitting pass defenses= blowouts, everybody thinks the pats are some force to be reckon with, when in reality they just have an amazingly weak schedule and there division is a joke.

Here is an interesting article on Brady's current season and where it ranks all time. FOX Sports on MSN - NFL - Is Brady headed for historic season? (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7363686)

Is Tom Brady having the greatest season of any quarterback in modern NFL history? As of right now, there is no question the answer is yes.

When Peyton Manning broke the all-time NFL record by throwing 49 touchdown passes in 2004, Football Outsiders decided to figure out if Manning was the best ever. Our book Pro Football Prospectus 2005 featured a long article about the greatest quarterback seasons since 1960. We considered passing and running stats, we normalized every season to make up for the changes in the NFL's overall offensive level each year, and we adjusted for strength of schedule.

When we ran all the numbers, we ended up with a Colts quarterback on top â?? but not the Colts quarterback you expect. This was our list of the top 10 quarterback seasons since 1960, plus one season that has been added on since:

1) Bert Jones, 1976 Colts
2) Peyton Manning, 2004 Colts
3) Dan Marino, 1984 Dolphins
4) Daunte Culpepper, 2004 Vikings
5) Steve Young, 1992 49ers
6) Ken Anderson, 1975 Bengals
7) Ken Stabler, 1976 Raiders
8) Ken Anderson, 1974 Bengals
9) Steve Young, 1994 49ers
10) Warren Moon, 1990 Oilers
11) Peyton Manning, 2006 Colts

Bert Jones put up great all-around stats during a difficult year for offenses, and he added on significant value as a runner. That's enough to give him the greatest quarterback season in modern NFL history â?? at least, until 2007.

At his current pace, Tom Brady's 2007 season will end up on top of this list, and won't even be close. Brady is on pace for a record completion percentage of 73.8 percent, and he would be second all-time with 4,857 yards. He's also on pace for 62 touchdowns â?? and since there's less offense in the league now than there was three years ago, that actually translates to 67 touchdowns in the 2004 offensive environment where Manning set the record.

The article in PFP 2005 translated all stats into one big number, which represented "Points Above Average" â?? much like the DPAR we use in Quick Reads, but slanted toward better players. Jones led with 163.8 PAA. At his current pace, despite a huge penalty for strength of schedule, Brady would end up with 187.9 PAA. The difference between Jones and Brady would be the same as the difference between Jones and the season currently tenth on the list, Warren Moon's 1990.

Of course, it is very unlikely that Brady will continue at this pace. How much could he possibly slow down? Brady's best season before this one was probably 2005, so I looked at two possibilities: that Brady's last nine games would match his 2005 performance, and that Brady's last nine games would fall halfway between his current performance and his 2005 performance.

If Brady reverts halfway to his previous best level of play, he still ends the year with the second-best quarterback season since 1960, right behind Jones and ahead of Manning's 2004. He still sets the NFL record with 52 touchdown passes and the completion percentage record at 70.7 percent.

If Brady plays the last nine games exactly like he did in 2005, he throws 42 touchdown passes with a completion percentage of 67.7 percent â?? good numbers, but not records. Those numbers would come out as either the 12th or 13th best quarterback season since 1960. Why 12th or 13th best? Because if Peyton Manning continues at his current pace, he would end up with the 12th best season, right behind his 2006 season, and right ahead of our mythical "Tom Brady who reverts to his 2005 performance."

So Brady is having a very special season, and Manning is having a very special career. Brady could end up number one all-time, but Manning could end up with four seasons in the top 20 (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007), an honor he would share with Steve Young (1992, 1993, 1994, 1998).
