View Full Version : Growing Af Goo- Short and not tons of side shoots = low yield? Yikes

This is my third cycle with my set up, I currently have 53 plants under 3600 watts. I was given the clones by a friend and was told some are a Af-Goo\Kush mix and the others are Early Durban\Super Silver Haze cross. I vegged the plants for about three weeks, and am 10 days into flower. They look small to me, and I am used to sativas but I am curious what's going on with these.

Alot of them are around 12-16 inches tall which seems pretty damn short to me for being 10 days into flower. They are definitely still growing pretty quickly, but they seemed slow to veg. Alot of them lack secondary shoots, just a bushy little plant with loads of leaves (typical with Af Goo I've read) but I am worried about getting a low yield. Have you guys grown bushy little guys that just fill out into one big cola?

I am not getting loads of light penetration because these things are so damn leafy. They look really healthy, I can post pictures at a later date. Nice fan leaves, good stems... just not a ton of secondary shoots...and some of the secondary shoots while there, are small and hug close to the main stem. Curious what y'all think.

I have them at 1050PPM already in flower and they are taking 1050PPM just fine. I see some bud formation starting. Will get some pics up soon.

Since I see white hairs and tiny buds forming up top, that means my plant has likely stopped vegging right? I am pretty concerned because I shoot for about 23 grams per plant, and I'm just not seeing how that will fit onto the plant unless it continues to grow upwards, but even then... the light is having a tough time penetrating the canopy far down though bud formation is def. down in there. Is it too late to use a product like bush master or something like that to get some secondary shoots going?

At 10 days you don't really have a good impression of the kind of wiehgt the plant can put on. You are going to end up with a single-cola plant, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I've had a BlueMoonRocks run a single cola RIGHT down to the soil and give over a zip on a plant that finished at about a foot. So :D!!!

Well, that's good to hear Stinky. Hopefully I get similar results... they should grow a few more inches as well. Problem is, if the light is not penetrating the canopy due to the all that foilage... can the bud really go down super far? I would figure my 1000 watt lamp would penetrate better, I am getting like 200K candle sticks three to four inches down the plant... I'm sure that's enough to bud em up pretty good but further down probably not.

Buds are forming down low.....looks like they will be popcorn buds but maybe I just need to wait a week or so before making any assumptions about anything. Perhaps I vegged a little too short...I gave em three weeks - figured that would be enough.
