You can use anything that lowers or raises PH, including household items.

And when you go to buy more and compare value, remember that there are many strengths of PH up and down. With one you might need 2 drops, and with another 2 teaspoons.

Baking soda will work well for PH up
and Lemon juice (teaspoon a gallon) is recommended for lowering PH.

that was the avatar of a grower friend of ours, who died a few months ago ... 'Needles' was a Texas good old boy, that loved growing his White Rhino, and Willie Nelsons ... sounded like he went peacefully, too

If you gotta go, that's the best way.

I thought using Baking Soda was last resort?

I'd like to have the definitive answer on baking soda, I was using it for a short time, with great results, mush easier than my 'pH UP' liquid drops ... but heard of possible 'salts buildup' ... never did find out for sure, though ... :smokin:

That's great to know. I just bought 20 bucks worth of pH UP and Down, while having baking soda and lemon juice around the house, but since I balanced out my pH my seedlings have literally taken off.

Isn't it amazing how plants will grow if conditions are correct?

I have heard of many people using baking soda without any reports of salt or anything else bad. I've never tried it myself.

it leveled off my pH just great, while the drops were a constant trial and error, but I never knew for sure if it was OK ... didn't use it long enough to see what the plants thought of it

You were using it in soil though, correct? I've been using the liquid I just bought very successfully so far. I've found the amount that makes 1.0 changes in my size tank.

OK I am starting all over tomorrow with new seeds that have sprouted and I need to know what the PH is suppose to be in the tank so I get the dirt and moss right so I well so he doesn't kill them again, however I am not leaving town this time and daman it they better grow right. Got all the other levels just need to go to Hot Tub store or pet store to get the ph strips
