Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at a grow/grow log.

Strain: Blue Mountain Jamaican, an indica/sativa cross, purchased in-store at the Vancouver Seed Bank. Give them your business, fellow Canadians! They ship country-wide... Vancouver Seed Bank (http://www.vancouverseedbank.ca/catalog/)

Germination: Ten seeds, all sprouted in distilled water, planted in potting soil with 100% success.

Lights: Two double-bulb ceiling floro's ripped from my kitchen and re-wired to run off one power cord. They hum like a choir and could burn down the joint at any minute, but the're free!

Medium: Standard 7$ potting soil from my local nursery. Will transplant to a custom soil-less mix purchaed from my hydro shop when the're strong enough.

Nutrients: Nothing until last night, my mistake apparently... now using GH NutriGrow powder mixed with tap water, every 2 days.

Status: Very slow and strechy growth; I had them under incandecent lights for the first week and a half, now switched to floro's and the nutes. The difference is staggering, even after one night. The ones still alive after light burn, nute burn, and light and nute deficiency leaves me with three (relatively) strong plants and two who are hanging on, but I don't expect to survive.

Future Plans: Will go to home depot this week to get my supplies for a grow box, and get a used 1000w MH light.

Any tips or suggestions to keep my plants alive would be appreciated, I'm virtually in the dark here.

If your lights are as low as they will go, in other-words, if they are about 2 inches from the top of the plant, then you dont have enough light. They are stretching because they are searching for more light. This is your first grow so an investment in lights is a HUGE must (from my experience anyways). You can go to your hydro shop and look at the lights they have. When your talking to them, just tell them you are going to be growing something like tomatos or roses and that you need lights for the veg stage since they are clones of ones you have in your yard.... They will be happy to tell you the amount of light that you will need. You could probably get a light system completely setup for about $200. Keeping in mind safety, you wont have to worry about your house burning down....a HUGE plus in my book and worth spending the extra cash.
