most of those airpumps work on a 'vibrator pump' method, so you wont get it completely quiet ...sit it on a piece of foam, thats about all you can do, don't do anything to block airflow, or contain any heat ... :smokin:

Hang it from a cord.
You want to avoid transferring vibration to a sounding-board such as a wood surface.
It is good practice anyway to hang an air pump HIGHER than your res, so that if you have a power outage, the water cannot siphon into the pump.

Good info Sis. -> also invest in .50 cent check valves from a pet store to avoid back flow and pump damage or even worse electricution in the event of a power outage etc...

Foxy is correct about keeping water out of your pump ... either hang it higher as she suggested, or run an "anti-siphon' doohickey (you can buy them for a buck,or two, at any aquarium store) ... :smokin:

I don't like check valves because they reduce air flow dramatically. I just make sure my pump is higher than my res.

put a eye hook in the wall or ceiling, then suspend the pump with an elastic band from the hook. Most air pumps will have a hole to tie through.
