Hey, I searched for this but I couldn't find anything so I'll just ask about it. I think I have diabetes so my parents want me to go get my blood checked for sugar or whatever they check for. I was wondering if they would run a drug test as well. Also, should I ask for a specific kind of test to avoid a drug test? Thanks I'm really worried.

They usually just prick your finger for a little blood for the diabetes test, but that doesn't even tell them if you have diabetes. You have to fast first. If you parents odered a drug test they will either take a urine sample or they will draw some blood from out of a vein in your arm.

I have to do a 12 hour fast before my blood draws. I'm a Type II diabetic.

The night before you go to have the blood drawn, they will tell you nothing to eat or drink after midnight (water is OK). You'll go in and they'll draw blood from a vein, and depending on what tests the doctor orders to check the glucose levels in your blood they may take one or two vials. Legally they cannot do a drug test without your permission. If you're under 18, unless you've done something silly and made your parents suspicious enough to want to do a test, you should be good....and besides that, if they're thinking you're a diabetic, they probably aren't worried about doing a drug screen, they probably just want to figure out what's wrong with you.
Oh yea....they also might have you pee in a cup to test your urine for glucose and protien....don't freak out, it's not for a drug test, just to check and see if any glucose or protien is spilling over into your urine...

Its your body.Ask lots of questions if they start poking you and if you're uncomfortible with something don't be afraid to say no or make them explain it more.
