I can hear the trains whistling and honking by every half hour or so.
I can hear the Holloway Hall bell toll every hour and at 12 and 6pm it plays a horrendously off-tune diddy that I can't put my finger on.
I can hear the highway
I can hear the crape myrtle trees rustle as the wind blows.

what can you hear?

Sirens, people shouting [i think they're having an argument next door haha] Cars, someone just tooted their horn, a the wind blowing the trees. That's about it. The sirens are constant so they dont really count.

I hear the bells of the high school I went to going off whenever classes start/end.
I hear cars just coming and going.
I hear the trees rustling in the wind.

nothing else right now, it's pretty calm atm.

And i've literally just heard [and saw, i looked!] 3 guys walking past with one about 10 metres behind threatening each other. Alcohol. THATS what should be illegal, if anything.

"Im gunner stab you with a 8 inch fucking carving knife, fucking tosser" - Exact words. It's pathetic.

I get this almost everynight - that coupled with sirens non stop means i dont always get to sleep.

If i can get my mic to pick up the noise, i'll post it.

Nothing
I Love the suburbs
Neighborhoods where they cut down all the trees and name the streets after them.

Trains scream by my back window every half hour or so, sirens wizzing by in the distance are pretty normal, laughing, talking and music from the street, the sound of construction from downstairs.

Crows, spring peepers, the neighbors' dogs, the wind.
Sometimes when it is quiet I can hear them building trains down at the railroad yard a couple miles away- it sounds like thunder, almost, when they slam together.

We have a waterfall and a stream just the other side of our patio, so it always sounds like one of those little water serenity things that people buy...the every now and again I'll hear the traffic but usually the waterfall blocks most of it out. Depending on the time of day, somtimes it'll sound like the rain...

I just hear crickets and shoes on pavement.

Crickets and evening bug sounds like late-season cicadas, which make a different sound from prime-summer cicadas
Birds
Our next-door neighbor's dog moaning pitifully to be let inside
My dog Daisy growling at him through the fence, which is probably adding to his distress
Very distant low-roar traffic noise from state highway 121
An occasional car in the neighborhood
The distant sound of a coach's whistle. There's a playing field two blocks over where neighborhood kids are practicing pee-wee league football or possibly soccer. Normally the wind doesn't bring that sound this far, but it is today.

Suburbs are alright. I'd rather be out in the wilderness someplace where I hear no traffic or other civilization noise. Just nature sounds and, ideally, running water from a stream or river.

Many birds, some crickets (nothing like Iowa, though). Then, there's the wind-like sound of the cars' tires at the beginning of the Interstate.

And, my fridge.

the occasional helicopter, wind through my trees, my outside cat meowing at me, dogs barking, construction a few streets over, birds, chipmunks (loud annoying motherfuckers)
AND of course, the distant sounds of vibrations and machinery from my lab

I hear jets from Burbank airport because we are somewhat under the take off path.
I hear news and police helicoptors constantly
I hear traffic on the 101 freeway
I hear traffic on Moorepark ave
I hear sirens howling on emergency vehicles
I hear horns honking from moronic impatient drivers
I hear tires squealing in protest of that stupid cager's car that was talking on the phone and not paying attention to the road collision at least once a day
I would like to hear some quiet but, that won't happen until I get to the canyons this weekend and get off my motorcycle to look at the mountains.
