WLM is pretty good if you ask me. Terrible for sending files to people, but no different to MSN I'm sure. You can look for tweaks on Google that may allow you to keep it. However I suggest you move onto the new one. It seems the most sensible option.

Windows Live Messenger is FUCKED. Slows my computer down to the equivalent of shooting an old man's kneecaps. That's why I did some research and found out the way you can keep MSN7.5

Work around the forced upgrade - Msgshit.com MSN/WLM Forum (http://forum.msgshit.com/?showtopic=7534)

It won't work if you change the settings to Windows 2000 while the program is open. You must have not opened the program yet

Yeah, I hate WLM and preferred MSN to it, since the forced upgrade, I've switched to that Trillian program which is horrible too, but it lets me use AIM, MSN and YIM all at once, that's not too bad.

What really blows about it though, is that when they announced WLM, they said that those that wanted to keep MSN7.5 could and those that wanted updated versions would get WLM. Too bad they went back on their word on that one.

They don't force you to use something that you don't want. it sucks that they want everyone to upgrade to live, but they aren't forcing you to upgrade. You can abandon the service at any time you want.
