Kanye West has already beat him in record sales by a landslide. We can all finally say goodbye to 50 cent. I for one am elated.

Any proof of this? I cant believe kanye actually outsold 50.

I just recently heard this on the radio, but if you want some sort of pre-sale proof, here ya go: Rolling Stone : 50 Cent or Kanye West? An Unscientific Record-Store Exit Poll (http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2007/09/11/50-cent-or-kanye-west-an-unscientific-record-store-exit-poll/)

Here is another article that is more recent that is already counting the sales.

His first album sold a lot, because it was damn good...he'll never live up to it. Plus his name was attached to Eminem and Dr. Dre. His second album is pretty bad, but probably sold a lot, because people figured his first was so good that it must be good as well. I heard a few good songs on the new one, but that's it. And hell no, I didn't buy it. I honestly don't know anyone personally who will...it makes me wonder how he even sold that much.
By the way, it's 781,000 to 603,000 right now...but it isn't over until Sunday night. I'm not the biggest Kanye fan, but I'd like to see him take it by a lot, because he actually produced every song himself, rather than taking other peoples beats and throwing shitty lyrics on them. Kanye put in way more work, so I feel he should be rewarded. Even though album sales don't really mean shit...it's something he cares about I guess.
Also, 50 already said that his next album is due in March '08 and he's 80% done with it [even has a Kanye track on it]. What he said about 'quitting' had to do with marketing. If you don't want to listen to the music, simply don't. Not hard to do.

If 50 cent is gonna put out another album after losing to Kanye then he is a lying bitch.

I forgot to mention that Graduation is a very good album.

I also agree that Kanye West is the better artist overall. He's got a lot to say, that's for sure, and a powerful way of saying it.
I'm moving this to the music lounge though.

You know, I'm not a huge Kanye fan and I'll agree he's way too cocky and into theatrics. (although I'll give credit to him on that one, I think he's smarter than people take him to be and he knows his theatrics just bring more publicity and hype, which in turn bring more sales).... But, the man can throw a damn good beat together when he wants to, he's a pretty great producer and I'd rather listen to his rhymes over 50's banter anyday. I've heard some good reviews about this album and the singles I've heard really aren't all that bad, I may go pick up the album if it puts 50 out of the market... If 50 doesnt hold to his word and retire, then he's lost what little credit he might've had.

anyway this whole shit is soooooo fake and commercial its unbelievable. they perform on stage together, made some songs together, everything. its justs a marketing tool to get people to music stores to buy their albums. dont feed into the hype.

I just heard on the radio not 30 minutes ago, from 50 cent on some stupid sports talk radio show at work. The host asked, "so are you gonna retire now? and 50 rambled on and on and said "no", and said something like hell still make music organiclly....???

Well to be honest I thought that 50 cent would outsell kanye by a lot but I knew for a fact that even if kanye won which he probably will by the looks of it no way would 50 cent quit, hes only just started!, he just got too cocky.. and now hes just going to be known as a man who doesnt keep his word, hahaha oh well.

OH HELL YEAH!
I'm going to buy the Kanye West album to ensure 50 never raps again, even though I probably won't listen to it.
Now that I think about it, they're probably in this together as a marketing ploy.

Yeah I was reading one of my celeb mags a few hours ago and 50 cent said that its all a joke and he has "no beef" with kanye.

Why wouldn't you listen to it? It's a great album...the production is unreal. I've seen you post about underground hip-hop...that shit isn't in the same universe as this music.

There's really nothing to think about. I don't see why people don't get the fact that they told the public this is a friendly competition and that it's good for hip-hop, but they also acknowledged a lot of it is marketing. It's not a secret plan. They are good with each other...Kanye even did a track for 50's next album.
Same thing with 50 not making anymore solo albums. He said a few days later that it was more of a joke. The guy isn't as serious as everyone thinks...he's actually a funny guy in real life. Cocky? Maybe...probably more just confidence, and how could you blame him.

I'm pretty sure the deal was for the end of the SOLO career, thus why there would be a Kanye track on 50's next album.

I just don't feel his stuff. I acknowledge he's incredibly talented at producing, probably the best since Dre, but that doesn't equate me totally feeling it. I enjoy some of his works, notably College Dropout, it the way he flows. His voice, and his pitch is not nearly as great as his producing skills, and it turns me off his amazing beats. If it was 100% instrumental, I would be more inclined to listen to it.
I don't exactly follow entertainment news, only bits and pieces. I haven't heard the whole story, but 50 went out and made a bold statement. You can expect some to hold him to his word.

They're both as shit as each other in my opinion. It's a shame one of those 9 bullets didnt get him in the head - although theres so little in there i dont think it would have even killed him.

I dunno, I guess I stopped feeling 50 after I found out that he's never smoked weed before. I mean its cool if you don't but why make a bunch of songs about being high all the time if you've never smoked, thats just fake as hell. So I guess I stopped really listening to him then.
from a article :
Yet Fifty's rough image got him here. His two albums have sold over 20 million discs worldwide in spite of their graphic realism--or more likely because of it. And the threatening facade, these days, is more marketing than reality. In person, despite his imposing 6-foot frame and bulging biceps from daily workouts, he is polite, soft-spoken, thoughtful. He insists he lives a quiet life, rarely goes out partying, won't use narcotics or smoke pot (despite his ode to weed, "High All the Time") and eschews alcohol. Onstage, he guzzles from a Hennessy bottle. His fans don't know it holds only iced tea......

50 Cent won't retire, he "took back" what he said.
Graduation is a much better album than Curtis, imho. Curtis has it's moments, but I don't think 50 can beat his first album. Graduation is an excellent record, although I have to say, collaborating with Lil Wayne wasn't a good move in my book, Lil Wayne is a horrible rapper. His verse in "Barry Bonds" is probably the worst I've ever heard.
Anyway, I'm high and feel like I'm rambling, so I'll stop.

This whole thing was nothing but a marketing plan cooked up by 50, Kanye and their puppet masters. Who won? Both of them...they're both putting up great numbers by todays standards and they're both laughing all the way to the bank. The only losers are people who got suckered into buying albums that they probably wouldn't have bought otherwise because of this make believe competition.
'Curtis' is a steaming pile of shit. Graduation is good but not great. Kanye and 50 are rich as hell.
Thats the industry for ya....don't believe the hype
