Im doing the paper towel method and was wondering if I can just put the bag on top of one of my modem plugs because it seems to be warm enough. Since there is no other place that I can find it warm enough.

I,ve used my dsl modem many times , because it generally stay on all the time. TV's you only use for certain time so Modem is good.

Just be carefull when you pull out the seeds from the paper towell becasue seeds tend to grow into the paper and when you pull the seeds out you might break the roots.

I recommend putting the seeds inside a glass of water covered with plastic paper and put it on top of the modem , this way your seeds are safer from being torn down.

Good luck

Be sure to check on them or exchange the air once a day to avoid your seeds from rotting. Do this without disturbing the paper towel or the seeds.

Simply exchange the air.

Do I have to put them in a plastic bag? Because I have them in a damp paper towel on a paper plate, on top of the heat source. And I put a pillow case over it :D.

I place the towel in a plastic bag, but when I place it over the heat source it gets kinda foggy in there.

you dont want your paper towel to dry out with your seeds in there. The plastic bag helps retain the water, keeping your seeds, moist/wet for germination.

Again just be carefull to avoid breaking the roots when removing them from the paper towell, they tend to grow into the paper .

Is it ok if the plastic bag looks foggy?

Is it ok if the plastic bag looks foggy?

It is damn near neccesary, and also covered in a previous response! This has the potential to be a LONGGGG thread so Im gonna sum it up.
-for the paper towel method-

1.) Place seeds on damp paper towel

2.) Gently fold towel, as to make it easy to reopen.

3.) Place towel and seeds into a baggie

4.) Blow air into baggie and set in a dark warm place

5.) Check on moisture in bag. Remoisten if needed.

6.) Keep checkin'....(but avoid exposing to light)

7.) Hopefully, they pop soon but can take over a week

8.) VERY CAREFULLY remove seeds when 1/8 of an inch of root shows and place them gently, tap root pointing down, in your medium.

Good Luck, hope I didnt leave anything out, but if I did it's YOUR FAULT for making me post this!;)

The bag is foggy from the small water droplets condensing on it. If it's foggy then it's humid and thats good.

An easier way to germinate seeds is to take some room temp water in a glass then drop ur

seeds in there then put them in a drawer and wait for those suckers to pop

my favorite method:
1) place seeds in a cup of water overnight. 12 hrs max.
2) place seeds in paper towel that is wet but not too wet because they need some air. also make sure it is in total darkness and stays relatively warm 70-85 degrees.
3) when the root is about a quarter inch long place it in a pre moistened grow medium with no fertilizer and the root going down. Care not to leave roots out too long or they will dry and the seed will die. Minimize exposure to light.
4) after step 3 it will take about 2-5 days for the sprout to show and make sure it is in light when that happens. keep it close to the lights to make strong stout seedling growth.

Good luck guys.
